When adult (enough) anime started to appear more and more on german television a decade ago(subtitled midnight marathons existed already in the 90s) they were sometimes accompanied by changed intro/ending songs or completely new openings. Some of these were even better then the originals so here are a few:

Arjuna: http://youtube.com/watch?v=0QaiGqjD-J4. Somehow elivates the source material.

Escaflowne: http://youtube.com/watch?v=4s5GMjGkiBg Goes great with the longing stares and dreamlike atmosphere. Very beautifull.

Hellsing: OP:http://youtube.com/watch?v=GzQQzGI6NoQ and ED: http://youtube.com/watch?v=3BFVI-0Ks2A The original ones were good but these are better. The new opening especially is in my top ten best.

Shaman King: http://youtube.com/watch?v=V6jARQZGlyQ&list=PL906599920ECCABFD&index=9 Basesd on the american one and pretty neat.

X: http://youtube.com/watch?v=cad6eutAxPk The japanse one is good but only nice J-Pop. Mother Earth though and the (too long) narration give it way more gravitas.

These were the top 5 gems i wanted to share with the community but then i saw
Hunter X Hunter: http://youtube.com/watch?v=WV6hO99AzKw
Somehow this arabic intro i accidently stumbled upon manages to capture the manga´s melancholy better then all the japanese ones so this got me thinking. We are an international community with long reach so post your favorite adapted ones here.
The Wamdue Project(just copy and pase) video´s for GiTS and Patlabor have been remastered on youtube btw. and are the best anime music videos i have ever seen 😃 .

Hunter x Hunter Ending Indonesian version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9U5hWIXJvmc. Basically, It's a version with more upbeat tempo than the original japanese version but its somehow still sounds melancholy enough to me. Also, the visual is not that different from the original japanese version.

If you somehow want to sing the song, here's the lyrics: 🤣

Apa kau dengar suara angin yang berhembus di muka bumi
Bangkit kenangan di masa lalu
Apakah yang berada di sana
Di ujung awan yang berarak
Kutahu masa depan telah menantimu di balik hutan ini
Selamat jalan...
Jangan berpaling lagi dan teruslah melangkah
Percayalah...
Gejolak dalam dada kan jadi kekuatan
Suara langkahmu yang tengah berlari kencang
Sendiri kan kucari di tengah angin ini

Isn't this just the Japanese Ending in Arabic?

I also like the X OP, gave it a much heavier atmosphere.

Maybe should have mentioned this one:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=uowSW2GRAbA
4 Lupin tv specials were cut into 4 episodes each and aired with this intro. They nail the atmosphere of the franchise pretty nicely.
Edit: Just checked the HxH comment and it is a readapted ending song from the first ending.

Sorry for a little non-serious approach, but Yatterman had a funny OP song in the Italian version (which was then reused in many European countries): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mr5MDE0_vFQ

Most folks probably don't remeber the show, so here is the original for comparison: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pJDsuCz3-Y

They do it commonly in Italy.
For example, here's the first Pokemon opening: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptIDF8R2wiM

There are many more just for Pokemon! For example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-0UcHeQPBY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zl3Zt2WaSe4

Here's Dragon Ball:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_JX6cFsS9w

Dragon Ball Z: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uj6m2PjNCwQ

Dragon Ball GT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAkxID3zXoc

How about some Shoujo?

Kodomo no Omocha (Rossana in Italy): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HBKUhz3jFo
Marmalade Boy (Piccoli problemi di cuore, which means Little problems of the heart):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opep63rRaxo

As you can see, there are plenty, of every anime that has come to the country. They don't do it as much anymore though.

Yu-Gi-Oh 5ds had an awesome English one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwzwN8nXcn0

The Japanese one doesn't even compare.

When I went to Italy for a vacation trip, they were airing "Nadia: Secret of Blue Water" on TV. I never saw Nadia before so this was a treat, even if this was the Italian dub version. What made me happy to tune to it every time I got a chance to see it in a hotel room was the opening.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQlNOA4qt04

The OP blew me away. I didn't know what Nadia's JP OP sounded like at that time, but the Italian version was soooooooo catchy/beautiful. I wished there was a full version of this song even to this very day. ;__;

Here is a curious one where the International version got a Japanese song, while in Japan it had an English one : Speed Grapher...

The original opening song was Girls on Film by Duran Duran, great song by a great band and it fit the anime well. Because of license issues internationally they couldn't use it outside Japan though which is a shame.

The Nadia op is spoiler tastic and the italian stuff posted here is realy good.
Zeta Gundam had it´s opening changed too just like the fine but messy (cuz Gonzo) SG anime bit that opening is a 10/10.
The adapted german op for Cat's Eye works well: http://youtube.com/watch?v=2_C1TdtkJy4
The second DBZ op is well liked in germany: http://youtube.com/watch?v=RZ6O4yvgQ3U
Same for One Piece´s first opening: http://youtube.com/watch?v=nZk9Nn-U9sM
The (US?/) german opening to Mega Man even makes the show look good: http://youtube.com/watch?v=HFEBaAxO7W0
Here is the euro music video (1080P!) for GitS: http://youtube.com/watch?v=OwdlqquJDK4 We europeans love daytime nudity and the Patlabor one is equaly great. The second Patlabor movie is a 10/10 must wach and even better/by the same team as GitS.

Even though it was in Portugal, what used to be on TV was the spanish version of Doraemon. The opening is still awesome, even if just for the great memories it brings back... ^-^ Doraemon OP Spanish

I know this is one year and several months later, as a belated reply, but I just simply want to say: thank you! I didn't expect this on the same day I was in this thread. 😀 Now to find the mp3 of this song....
