Hi, I’m looking for a title!

The premise is that an adult female witch who owns a shop/apothecary (and maybe has am apprentice?) has a childhood friend with an L name who turns out to be a boy! Another plot point is that she couldn’t fly with a broom.

It’s not a recent title, and I thought it was a longer series? But I may be mixing it up with a similar one that involves being a witch at a school (or could be the same story??)
