As I'm starting to try to broaden my understanding of yaoi as a genre 🤨 , consent is a must.

I don't think i've ever come across an aromantic yaoi manga. That would be a first. Have you read Café Latte Rhapsody? It's been a while since the last time i read it, but i think it's the closest you'll get. Maybe shounen-ai will have more options.

I haven't read Café Latte Rhapsody but according to it's description, the story in involved with the "Falling in love" thing; so... 😔
Shounen-ai is a no two because I would like to avoid stories with younger protagonists.

Oh... I thought the shounen-ai was to yaoi what shounen is to seinen or what shoujo is to josei. Not so knowledgeable of me 🤢
But then I'm looking for an aromantic manga not a romantic one.
Could I at least have some suggestions of those aromantic shounen-ai with not so young protagonists?

Sorry I thought you just misspelled 'romantic'. I've never heard of 'aromantic' before. No idea what you want.

I didn't read this, but Bokutachi Otokonoko looks like it fits the criteria somewhat.

Indeed, this one seems to be the closest it can be for a yaoi/shounen-ai to shed romance. 😃
I'm thanking you and I'm trying it out.

I don't think you're going to find a lot of aromantic stories in the BL genre, because romance is usually the point of the genre. I suggest you browse through the BL Subtext and Bromance tags, as those indicate close guy/guy friendships without crossing the line into an "onscreen" romance.

Aromanticism is a romantic orientation, like heteroromantic, homoromantic, biromantic, etc. It means you aren't interested in/are incapable of having romantic feelings towards anyone. You can be aromantic while being heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, etc. Or you can be an aromantic asexual (not feeling sexual attraction or romantic love).

The OP is asking for stories with aromantic homosexual, bisexual or pansexual guys, I guess.

I don't think the OP's request is even possible to fulfil 100%, since you're more likely to find homoromantic heterosexuality in yaoi than you are to find aromantic homosexuality. Gritting your teeth and having it on with a guy even when you're not attracted to them is the ultimate expression of romantic love in the yaoi world 🤨

Oh, but maybe Amato Amaro? From what I can remember, it really wasn't all that romantic. And I think maybe some of the more extreme smut is so focused on sex that there isn't any romance, but I'm afraid I can't recommend any 'cos I don't read them.

There's always Tomoi, though. It's realistic and therefore not at all lovey-dovey.

I did try Bokutachi Otokonoko but I dropped it after one chapter. No wander it has shoujo in it's genre section.

I'm going to try Amato Amaro then Nemureru Mori no Binan then Tomoi.

Yeah, I really don't think you're going to find any aromantic yaoi (though the concept is an interesting one). Most yaoi that I've read, if not out-and-out romances, have some ridiculous attempt at a love story forced into them to try and justify the sex, even if (especially if) one or both of the characters never even expressed a romantic interest in the other to begin with. Honestly, the only places I've encountered the possibility of aromanticism are in the really hardcore rape stories, for obvious reasons, and even then, it's not really aromanticism so much as a lack of romance/romantic attraction, period (again, for obvious reasons). But you're not into that, so they're not worth mentioning here anyway.

If it's of any interest to you, Aiso Tsukashi has a character who is homoromantic bisexual, which is another romantic/sexual orientation combo that isn't often represented.
