Is there any way to filter novels from releases page? It's gotten to the point where you should probably make a sister site called Baka-Updates Novels. More than half the releases page is full of novels and it's getting hard to navigate.

An option to filter novel releases would be awesome, especially for those people who are only interested in manga/webtoons. AFAIK, the only filter right now is the (Novel) tag appended to the name of a series.

It should be possible to add another tag or identifier for sorting in the User CP, like Release Filtering. For example, adding "Novel" as a tag to the Genre section for a title (not a very neat solution though).

To hijack this suggestion thread, I think the "Series Stats" section could also use a novel filter. Novels are overwhelmingly popular on the site right now (I'm guilty myself) and it would be nice to track popularity/activity changes separately for manga and novels.

But please keep the novels on the site! embarrassed

That's useful info for someone who's desperately looking for any solution at all, but I think there should be an option that's more accessible for the average user.

Like jonytep suggested, it would also be nice to filter by manga/manhwa/webtoon.

I've always found the filters to be rather rudimentary to be honest.... While they technically get the job done, it isn't optimal. Novels have seriously overrun the site at this point. Not that it is a bad thing per se, but I occasionally click "series stats" and browse the top 25 to see if some new manga catches my eye. Right now it is predominantly novels on there. It is simply my begrudging laziness to sort past them, but I think that over all filtering will help users focus on what they want. Be it manga, manhwa, manhua, novels, etc. I like novels, but I'm not coming to a site called novelupdates.com now am I? That being said, spreading knowledge of using"?exclude_type=Novel" in this case would be useful, but I'd like a box I can tick in my settings to make it permanent....

It should be done.
It's realy ridiculous when almost 75% releases are novel/manhua... We need proper filtr categories in User CP.
"Exclude" is a good tool, but you can't exclude more then one category (or maybe i'm something missing?).

I would kill for an option to hide machine translators and online readers (crunchyroll, mangastream, etc). It would never happen, but I would kill for it.

Please consider this suggestion. I'm not interested in novels and frankly it's annoying having to scroll down a bajillion novel titles that are usually 3 sentences long. People who are interested should be allowed to be updated on those just a people who don't care should be allowed to filter them out.
Thanks for your consideration

I made script for Greasemonkey(Tampermonkey on Chrome) about this, so feel free to use it if you want. It will split manga and novel releases onto their own columns.

Filter or not it does not change the fact the scope of the site is dedicated towards manga/manwha/manhua/comic-based works, and bearing the name "Baka-Updates Manga". A better solution would be to have a sister site that is just for novels only.

I am a big fan of translated novels and wouldn't have found many of these wonderful stories if not for this site, so I'm glad they are here, including those that don't have a manga/manwha/manhua connected to it.

However, I completely understand how some people don't read them nor do they want to see them so I see nothing wrong with a filter.

The worst thing you could do would be to eliminate them altogether unless someone creates a sister site dedicated to novels. The reason there are so many translated novels listed is b/c they are very popular.

Sister site would be a good idea. I have a similar problem with user iamssjvash. When browsing series, there are many novel releases to sort out while what i'm looking for is manga on mangaupdates.com. At least i hope, the site would separate the database for manga and novel. We were given a link to filter novel releases but tbh, it's not that handy, especially if we are using more than one device. PC, Laptop, Ipad, etc. It needs to be bookmarked or remembered. Be it. I'm too lazy to save or remember the link...

I removed line 48 of the code and changed width on line 49 to 100%

this removes all the novel releases completely on the releases page without the url workaround

I updated the script to version 2.

The version 2 now includes an options menu bar that can be used to hide and show mangas, novels and oneshots.
