Recycling is good for the planet yet the majority of people do not recycle because it is inconvenient

Everyone knows that recycling paper saves trees and almost everyone has herd the the insane about of years it takes for many products to decompose (for one example it takes 4,000 years for glass) It also lessens greenhouse gasses created from the decomposition. While also saving space for different buildings and or parks and housing because no one wants to live near a landfill doesn't pollute the surrounding areas, for if landfills are not properly looked after they can pollute the surrounding habitat and poison the water. Not to mention reusing products can keep down the cost of raw materials (we never recycled copper and now its expensive). The average American family creates 4 pounds of trash a day, it doesn't all have to go back under he ground. Getting paid for recycling is one of the best ways to get people to recycle 93% of deposit cans/bottles are recycles but 87% of non deposit ones find their way into landfills.

This is pretty much an ad for recycling so please recycle (my environmental science grade depends on if I can get a lot of people to recycle so if anything take the pile of water bottles on your desk and throw them in a bin and put it at the end of your driveway)

Recycling depends on convenience more than anything, I think. If it's easy, most people will probably do it; if it's not easy, most people probably won't.

I'm pretty diligent about recycling everything possible at home even though I don't get paid for it (well, slightly lower trash pick-up bill since I have less trash, but it's not a very significant amount of money), because I'm set up to do it.

If I'm out somewhere and buy a drink in a glass bottle but when I'm done there's nowhere handy to recycle the bottle, chances are I'm not going to take it home or carry it around for hours until I find a place to recycle it.

Make it easier to recycle stuff, and regardless of payment, more people will recycle.

PS - How the heck is your environmental science teacher going to determine whether you got people to recycle or not?? 😕

I recycle!

Where I live, we get two disposal bins. One for combustable and one for recycle. The recycle bins are pretty big so it gets collected every fortnight 😃

Which reminds me...that's today >_>

BUMP

I recycle paper/card etc. and plastic/glass etc., because it is locally recycled and it means it isn't going to a landfill site.

I recycle only when I remember to...which is rare.
But I like recycling papers...and do it when I'm not too busy...which is rare. O_O

Recyling bin FTW

Thats how I do my bit. We have a bin that is picked up every tuesday for the recyling.

Saves me from going to the recyling bins and seperating all the glass bottles from the paper 🤢

I recycle glass and plastic jars/bottles; cans, and paper. It gets picked up weekly, so it's easy to do.

My family's recycled all my life, so I do it out of habit.
Unfortunately in this city, they stopped allowing the recycling of glass, so a lot of that is thrown away 🙁

If it's plastic, can or glass, I'll recycle it. Mostly out of habit although I think it's important to recycle. But if I get stuck with some weird, complex system, I'm not going to take two hours to figure out what can or cannot be recycled and all the steps I need to do it. If recycling rules are reasonable, I'll recycle.
