This week's poll was suggested by LazyReviewer. Do you go out of your way to watch movies that most people would consider "bad"? Maybe it's a sequel that everyone considers is terrible, but you wanna watch it anyways. Or a movie that bombed in the box office?

You can submit poll ideas here: https://www.mangaupdates.com/topic/kilkdnn/site-manga-poll-suggestions

Previous Poll Results:

Question: Would you rather restart your life with all your current knowledge or go forward to 5 seconds before your (painless) death?

Choices:

  • Return with all my knowledge and redo my whole life - votes: 1924 (89.6%)
  • Skip to the future 5 secs before my painless and peaceful death - votes: 224 (10.4%)

There were 2148 total votes. The poll ended: November 22, 2025

I have intentionally consumed some bad media because of one scene/character/song. Not a movie guy, not even anime ones, so I'm taking some liberty here.

I'm not generally into "so bad it's good" movies, but occasionally I'll give them a shot to see if they're funny.

I guess I'm more likely to do that if it's horror than if it's drama since I tend to just find bad dramas boring or full of painful levels of 2nd hand embarrassment rather than funny, but bad horror is usually funny because they're trying to be scary, and instead it's silly and over the top.

I lack much an attention span though, and I struggle to focus on movie-length things even if they're good let alone bad, so typically I'd much rather watch a shorter video someone made talking about how bad it is that has clips of the funnier parts than sit through a whole bad movie just to see the funny bits.

Only old bad anime movies. Just because there's limited number of them, and yet they sometimes affected on anime en masse.

I've never intenionally watch what most people consider as "bad film". For example, I used to watch the Catwoman (2004), only to found out later that it was flop.. Well, my little self back then quite enjoyed it though. I also watched Lady in Water (2006) back then, but I didn't quite understand the film. A few years later, when I browsed it, I found out it received quite a bad review. My impression towards what I considered good/bad back then might changed if my adult self watch it again.

I wouldn't say I go out of my way to watch bad movies, but I don't mind watching them if I have a reason to (e.g., they highlight a theme of their time).

I have sometimes watched movies that people said was bad before I heard that everyone said it was bad. House of the Dead comes to mind. I have watched movies that I've heard was bad hoping that people were wrong as well. Movies like Borderlands.(They weren't wrong.)

But intentionally watching a bad movie because it IS bad, not really. There are however some movies I watch even if people say they're bad because I don't think they are... movies like The Expendables series, Spawn, Speed Racer or maybe The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

Veey Rarely i will known that movie has bad reviews, but will be intrigued by its description nevertheless, and if i can watch it on one of my subscriptions without additional payment then i will just out of curiosity...

Like others have said, bad horror is much easier to get into rather than bad drama.

However, I think bad comedies can also be pretty fun. A perfect example is Evil Alien Conquerors (2003). The movie is low budget, nonsensical, and seems purposefully obtuse. It doesn't have the baseline level of craft that even a lot of other comedy movies have, but it's still ridiculous and hilarious in its own right. I wouldn't call it a good movie, but it hits all the right notes to be "so bad it's good".

As for the poll, I don't often seek these type of movies out, only on the rare occasion. Also, they're best enjoyed in a group where you can all make fun of the movie, and most of my movie watching is done solo, or in a theater.
