Innocent character befriends badass/tough character (recommendations)

Hoping to get recommendations similar to Southern Bird and Northern Bird or Pixie & Brutus (an english comic with similar vibe - a tough war veteran dog gets along with an innocent kitten)
Basically a kind/innocent/naive character somehow befriends a serious/tough/badass character... and the naive character doesn't even realize how tough the other one is. 🤣 Something like that I guess?
Doesn't have to be animals, though I would prefer completed series over ongoing
I'm totally fine if they end up being closer than friends.
