Just found this a couple hours ago, and as much as I would like to hope it's just joke considering the time I found it, it is indeed very SRS BZN.
And even though I love KyoAni's use of animation and the possibility of them finally having them cater to female-orientated moe, the speed of this fandom from just a 30 sec commercial is j-just too much for me! I mean, there's already character backstories (loved the PowerPoint presentation lol), fanart, fanfics, cosplays, RPs and even an English dating sim LMAO O_O!!
To be honest, the only reason I'm interested in this 'fandom' is really how fast and amazingly large it was able to grow online online in just 2 days using the power of the Internet. 🤣
What are your opinions on this?
EDIT. KyoAni just announced 'Swimming Anime' aka 'Free!' will now be a real anime series (see my latest post)!

Well I've seen basketball doujinshi (Kuroko no Basuke), ninja porno, nekkid reapers, and probably all those trendy yaoi stuff. Swimming anime? I'd be honored to watch this xDDD

I heard kyoani just animated that as an advert (something to do with the Olympics?). It wasn't intended to be an actual anime but they might look into the possibility what with the interest shown in it. I just know I wouldn't care either way.

Kyoto Animation Unveils Swimming Team TV Anime Free! for July!
Kyoto Animation unveiled its new swimming team anime, Free!, on Friday. The television anime is based on Kōji Ōji's High Speed!, an honorable mention recipient in the 2nd Kyoto Animation Award in 2011. Hiroko Utsumi of Animation DO is directing the anime, and Masahiro Yokotani is supervising the scripts. Futoshi Nishiya is designing the characters, and Tatsuya Katou is composing the music.
KyoAni had earlier put up a countdown site that counted down to their announcement of their new anime series, with a link to the live announcement video on Nico Nico Douga. And yes, this is it.
Much of the same team created the "Suiei-hen" (Swimming) anime commercial that was unveiled last month.
The main cast are Nobunaga Shimazaki, Tatsuhisa Suzuki, Tsubasa Yonaga, Daisuke Hirakawa, and Mamoru Miyano (Rin Matsuoka).
Personally, I can't help feeling surprised (then again, I wasn't really expecting anything to begin with lol) despite hearing how there was a petition going around.
But I'm really curious about the novel 'source' material it will be based on, especially since it was written 2 years ago. 😉
