What, in your opinion, is the most pretentious anime ever? I'm in the mood to watch something like that, so I can make a judgement call on it.
For me it is the End of Evangelion movie.

When it comes to pretentiousness, I don't think anything can beat Evangelion.

This would be a runner up for me. When I first started it I was feeling my brain be slowly raped. By the end some of it made sense but new questions arised. Just freaky overall but I still found EofE more pretentious.
I also found Ergo Proxy up there .
