WAS one of my favourites

Even though it had a great start and was original at the time, only 2 chapters after a year is too disappointing. I quite dislike how the manga/anime adaptations have developed and they've made me lose hope for this one.

Edit: after so much wait the last chapter was terrible. I guess helping in the adaptations took a toll on the author. There'll probably be more interesting scenes with the side characters but their POVs are too frequent. The story has deviated too much he should stop branching and making cross references to the manga. I feel as if the author should take a break reread the web comic and then change the latest chapters. Most of the scenes are overthought and the MC is used as comic relief at inappropriate moments.

Edit ch 144: well at last some advances. I was getting tired of all the new characters ... I hope Saitama gets some scenes in the next chapter.

The Best Super Hero Story in Manga yet.

Is story that starts with a obvious comedy tone, but leaving aside the cartoonist stylish art you can see one solid plot and another themes along the time.
I tried the other series of this author and this one is above the rest easily.
However I'm sadly unsure of how will ends, because of my bad experience with Mob Psycho 100.
About MURATA Yuusuke's version is like the Anime version, is the best comparation that I can give now.

Onepunch Man Storyboards.

This series feels like it takes place in the exact same universe as Tiger & Bunny. Both are set around a world where super heroes are celebrities & their careers are a popularity contest. The biggest differences, aside from Tiger & Bunny not being a comedy, is that T&B focuses heavily on sponsorship & television, while Onepunch Man spends a great deal of time mocking the hubris of the heroes & monsters, & the entitlement & blind optimism of the citizens in a world where the only character with two brain cells to rub together is a 10 year old child.

I'm nearly convinced that One speed-draws this way intentionally to give it the look of a child-drawn comic for comedic value, but sometimes he uses enough detail that exposes that he's far more capable at art than he lets on, & his art improves over time, just nowhere near Yuusuke Murata's level.

This webcomic collection serves as a storyboard for Murata to work off of in the manga, as well as provide fans with years of spoilers of things to come.

It's not exactly scene-for-scene, as One may change, add, & drop things from this book for the remake.

With the sorry state Marvel & DC have been in for the past 5 years, I think it's safe to say that Japan is the future of super hero comics.

The mother of Murata's OPM that has all of its brilliance apart from ITS ART >.<

Subject tells what this review is about. But not everything since even the grand work Murata did finally diverge from ONE's at some point and there you will truly come to appreciate this original piece of work's greatness.

Art-wise, ONE's version is a true-blue definition of what you may call a storyboard (as @likalaruku1 stated above), but the action and dialogue is just another level. This is the platform that makes Murata's so great, but since he also has other greatness in his art... I feel saying one is greater than the other doesn't do justice for the effort both Murata and ONE puts into the story so I won't.

Anyway, I'll assume anyone come here because of Murata's OPM, so I won't bother with the basic, I'd just want to say that ONE's original is, while it does have less fighting chapters, it doesn't lack in quality remarks and interesting interactions between characters, from which actually OPM's true strength exist. Post Monster Association Arc, we would be treated with intrique of Heroes Associations and its competitor while Saitama would have more interactions with his fellow heroes as he moved to Heroes dormitory following the destruction of his previous condo. Get prepared for some old joke from which ONE still successfully extracted some good laugh from me with.

Better than redrawn version

I really love ONE's style and technique. It's far better than the redrawn version. I can understand that majority prefer redrawn version but it lost a lof of charm and uniqueness of the original manga. Unfortunately the author almost has stopped issuing new chapters.

Ok, the art is generally not as good as the redrawn manga, but as I couldn't wait to know the continuation of the story I started reading this one and it still works! You're still very much immersed in the story, which is still just as awesome and hilarious, with the best protagonist EVER.
Actually, I'm more fond of the way women are drawn here than in the redrawn version. I find them wayyy too sexualized is the redrawn version and so less badass and likable. Here, Typhoon and ESPECIALLY Fubuki are perfect. I'm a bit annoyed at the redrawn version of Fubuki now, they made her look so much weaker! It's really a waste.

Okay...as other people saying, ONE-sensei don't have much skill in his Art...
But, he certainly have good Art sense and his art is really clean...everything is understandable!
And though his art skill is not good enough, I can say just by looking that, he gave it his all!

Now about the story...It's really good and anyone can enjoy it...It's about daily life of an epic invincible hero Caped Baldy...amm...I mean Saitama! He is an Average Guy who serves as an Average Hero!...an half-assed setting right ?...but, that what make it Far Moe Exciting To Read ~!

The Art Is Technically Horrible But I Swear It Works
by IHavoc

ONE's stories are primarily constituted by ninjas, psychics, demons, monsters crossed with household object, giant animals, superheroes with absolutely absurd abilities. It all smacks of something a deranged teenager scribbles in his notebook and the art reflects that.

Yet the characters and villains are the stupidest things you'll ever find legitimately entertaining, the tone is mixed up enough to keep both the stories and the gags fresh, and the amount of depth put into to his worlds and scenarios as well as the skill behind his paneling and general composition are surprisingly impressive.

The art style looks silly, but in a way that often works with the gags, and when he actually puts the effort in he draws some pretty badass stuff, like the "God" image and stuff from the Garou arc. I love it. I like it about as much as Murata's art but I'm a bit weird.

This dude gets that your art doesn't have to be great for it to complement your story, and that your premises and concepts don't have to be "serious" for your story to be legitimately interesting. This applies to basically all his works, so I might as well call this a general review. All of these stories are about super powerful "normal" people.

OPM:
One person is powerful but has a "normal" personality. He appears ordinary, so no one cares despite his living an relatively extraordinary life.

Off the bat there is a focus on a theme of subverting expectations and the story just runs with it. Sometimes it's predictable, a la the One Punch. Other times it's a character or development being significantly different in nature and relevancy than you would expect. Punchlines and twists are both frequent and both fairly well executed. It starts out slower, though not as slow as the next mentioned, but becomes fairly rapid fire in comedy in plot as it progresses.

MnO:
Nearly everyone is powerful while having "normal" personalities. They appear extraordinary, but no one cares because they all live relatively ordinary lives.

This one takes a while to build up, because it starts out mostly mundane with a little weirdness, before it starts to jump wildly between the two and mash them together in more entertaining ways.

MP100:
One person is powerful but has a "normal" personality. He appears extraordinary, so everyone cares but he wants to live an ordinary life.

In the first few chapters that have been (and are currently being) translated, it's really starting to flesh out a cast of characters in a unique way, which usually happens later in ONE works. Promising. It's also his main work, so it updates regularly.

Horrible Art...
by JapanRocks

But a complete master piece. I'm a bit shallow with my manga and would read a 'meh' story if the art is beautiful. However I'll look at the crappiest art if the story is good and THIS IS GOOD!! It's not the most awe inspiring story in the world but it's damn original and damn entertaining. I think that if people are prepared for the horrible art, then they can eventually get used to it like I did.

However I must warn that right now the original is at chapter 92 and has been that way for a while now. And it's ended at a hair pulling cliff hanger. Right now, neither versions are recommended fully because of the update speed.
