Description
Minori was attracted by Kitagawa Yougo’s first work, “Fallen Birds” and came all the way from Tokyo to his exhibition in the countryside. Their first meeting ended in a very unexpected way and it seemed that Kitagawa sensei was deeply in love with Minori since a long time ago. How can that be? Will Minori accept Kitagawa sensei?

Interesting enough

I like how it starts out nice and suddenly turns around and then you're left clueless as to what is going on for a long time. It was so mysterious and that was the reason I was interested in reading the rest as well.
As for the rape... hm well, I didn't particularly like it, aside from it adding some sexiness and stuff, and I think the story would have done without it as well. The rape feels very disconnected from the plot, like it happens but a lot of the conversations then ignore it.
I enjoyed this story as the story of a boy who is obsessed with a piece of art.
The plot doesn't completely connect at the very end, it could have felt more finished for my taste but it was alright.
What I don't understand is the use of
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the word Fake and Counterfeits in here. To my personal understanding a fake painting would be something that already exists in that exact same way, painted by someone else. And then you take it and make it your own. Or you say you have an original when it's only a copy. I'm not sure how the word Fake is meant here, the paintings being works of his father, him, and sometimes the both of them. The only thing that comes to mind is with the use of the Japanese word nisemono, a translation could also be "sham", definition: "One who assumes a false character; an impostor" which would mean that he basically doesn't want to draw in his father's name anymore...? It's not well enough explained in the manga.

If you enjoy yaoi that is a bit more on the creepy side and you can handle and get over rape then I'd recommend it.

Frankly.... Bad.

I usually can tolerate even the most nonsensical and cliche plots, but this was awful. The i-just-met-you-and-you-know-me-for-some-reason-and-then-you-rape-me-and-i'm-t raumatized-and-then-you-rape-me-again-but-its-ok-now" was just AWFUL. The characters aren't even lovable. The plot makes no sense, and everything is convienient. "Oh look! We all know who you are! And this all happened because of something dumb!" I'm usually a person for rape stories, but this wasn't good! I'm not usually this cruel to a manga, but it really just wasn't good. The characters aren't lovable, the art doesn't even make up for anything, the plot doesn't is illogical. Just bad.

wow, this was bad. it's a thoroughly no-sensical story. exhibit 1: you, a painter, fall in love with a middle schooler over a single letter praising your painting. exhibit 2: some years later your friends plot to get that boy to your studio. exhibit 3: when you finally see your love for the first time, you shake his hand and in the next moment jump his bones and rape him so badly that he is bleeding and needs to stay in bed for a week to recover. exhibit 4: the scheming co-conspirators drug the boy so they can heal his rape injuries, but keep him in the same house with you, his rapist. exhibit 5: you find out about that, grab the boy, see how terrified he is, feel guilty -- and then promptly do it again! exhibit 6: boy falls in love with you during that second rape.

this really should win the golden turkey award for the worst plot in the history of BL -- and i've seen some humdingers. i mean, even if one gets off on rape, which i think in general a perfectly acceptable fantasy for a fujoshi, how can one find THIS story "funny, hot, and cute"? this story is just too stupid to be printed and scanlated at all.

pardon me while i throw up a little in my mouth. gets a 2 instead of a 1 only because the art is decent.

What they did to that poor boy......I can't believe they can look at themselves and be proud....I usually take "rape" stories as just being stories...but this one was a little too much. I would be scared shitless and at the very end I wouldn't be like "I'm not afraid of you guys." I would be like get the fuck away from me and run for my life the first chance I got.

I've never been a fan of rape stories and this volume probably best exemplifies why. There's psychological trauma in addition to physical injuries that happen from rape, especially one as horrible as the one in the story yet they glossed over his "recovery" and make him fall in love with his attacker. There needs to be conscious, cognitive closure, not unconscious "sleep it off" BS. The way the other adults handled the situation was horrible too, it was basically revealed at the end to be a complete trap for Minoru to appear at the studio. There are so many levels of wrong to it.

Also, Youkou's secret was pretty lame. They made it seem so dark, mysterious, etc, as if there was a big reason why he jumped Minoru and why he was so attached to the boy but it all just turned out to be a silly, small reason. Did not justify anything at all.

It's hard to see this as a love story...

No one in their right mind would perpetrate these crimes against an innocent victim without expecting to be jailed, sued, beaten up or SOMETHING nasty happening to them. And I mean all four of these adults. Really, how could anyone ever trust these people? There are authors that can make you believe a victim can forgive and then fall in love with the victimizer, but this story bypasses any kind of normal logic. But the art as usual is appealing.

Anyone else feel sorry for Minori?
Spoiler (highlight to view)
the poor guy gets raped (by the 2nd main character), and then the others guy in the house and drug him and then they heal him, while he is passed out they even heal his "rape injury" if you know what I mean. It disgusted me to see these two guys strip him without his consent to heal him. He never even found out what they did to him. I felt like these guys shouldnt have even been interfering with the lives of the two main characters. I really disliked Shuu (or whatever his name is) he looked like a manipulative jerk. But thats just my opinion.
