1) Because You Smile When I Sing
The pop band vocalist, Atsushi, has always been thought of by others as a "scary person" because of the facial expression he was born with and his disinclination to speak. For Atsushi, Anzu is the only one who ever smiled wholeheartedly upon meeting him, but now that they have met again in high school, Anzu has changed completely. Why doesn't she smile? What can a boy--a singer--with a frightful expression and no speech do to bring her beautiful smile back...?

2) Ding Dong
Happiness resounds, ding dong. Though the sound of it may be short-lived, the echo only dies if we allow it to. Chisato wonders if her father ever loved her. He died in a car accident, leaving Chisato behind with her stepmother. He never gave her anything--no gifts on holidays, and he didn't even have the decency to go on living for her. It might be the case that even Chisato's stepmother feels no love for her and will leave. But one question from Chisato's childhood friend, Takahiro, brings the past echoing back with more clarity than ever before.
3) Voice of Mine
Inagaki Shuu is a musical genius, the son of musical geniuses, and so the eyes that watch him as he plays the violin are not the eyes of attentive listeners, but the eyes of scrutinizing customers. People are cold to him and the technical perfection he picked up from his parents...except for Futaba, that strange girl who ran into the music room to hide while he was there and then escaped out the window. She's straight and honest in her actions--and in her music. You can hear her voice when she plays, a voice that's uniquely hers. Can she help a genius to find his own voice...?
4) Double Flower
Suguru is a little strange for an 18 year-old boy. As a hobby and by profession, he's a seamstress. His rude little grade schooler step-niece, Aya, has run away from home and is staying with him now, and she lets him know everything that's on her mind without hesitation. It hurts to hear from her why women don't look on him as a man, but it also helps him understand what he needs to do to win the woman he loves...
5) Dark Princess
A hilarious fairytale side story of "Tsubasa o Motsu Mono". Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess named Princess Shoka. She was so lovely that she was called "Snow White," but she was also called "Dark Princess" because she was a sadistic slave driver! King Hiruto, Queen Phia, and General Tooya knew they had to do something about her behavior, so they hired Hunter Yang to kill her!? But she escaped, with Hunter Yang as her hostage, and went on an adventurous journey to find a hot knight to be her ultimate love! Less...

Although this tankouban was released some time after Fruits Basket had first started to be compiled, this work represents the last of the "Classic Takaya-sensei" in regards to art and storytelling. As Fruba would show a large shift in her style, this is the last time a release would contain none of the smoothness associated with her later work.
As such, this simple release compiles stories from various parts of her career--various one-shots, including a bonus chapter of her previous work, "Tsubasa". As such, this compilation provides a variety of different tones and multiple sets of characters. Although generally melancholic in tone, the rough edges of her work have begun to soften here: many of the stories run very softly in contrast to her contemporary works, despite being created alongside them.
The art is great here; given that these stories were written at different points in her career, you can expect each one to look a bit different, which provides each story with a distinct visual language and tone.
It's a treat, and it's a very easy read.

I found the first story sweet. I liked it a lot. The last one was very amusing, though it helps to know the characters from Tsubasa: Those With Wings. I like Takaya-sensei's sense of humour. The others were acceptable.

I find the first story so cute and absolutely cheesy....but it is incredabily beautiful! I just wated to hug anzu and atsushi.
The second and third story was okay too...but I didn't like them as much as the first story though the art was beautiful.
I also really like the fourth story. It was really cute and made me laugh. hehehe it is probably my favorite story...the last story was a bit rushed but i also thought it was cute.

I really liked the last story with the fairy tale-ish story. All these stories are rather typical and easily predictable. But they're cute and good for passing time. The art is decent, not as good as the author's other work - but it's all right. So I'll recommend this for new shoujo fans. But it does seem quite boring to people used to typical shoujos.
quite cute

I thought that overall the stories were okay. The second and third story were my least favorite, since there wasn't really anything interesting about them. The first story was sweet, but a pretty average shoujo story. The same can be said about the fourth one, but I really enjoyed Aya, since she was cute and added humor to the story. My favorite though was the fifth one, since it was so funny. It was a nice twist to the Snow White story and I couldn't help but laugh. (haha, near the end with the dynamite and her "solution" was so great XD)
If you have time, then I would say just read it, since 3 out of the 5 stories aren't bad. And the fifth is great for a good laugh. But there are better stories and oneshots out there.

Interesting manga. I found Story 5, Dark Princess, really hilarious. I don't know if it was just me though. :X But I did burst out laughing. I love Natsuki Takaya's humour. ^^ Story 1 was an interesting & sweet typical shoujo to read. The others were pretty mediocre to me, but they were still worth reading nevertheless.

I found this manga a pretty interesting one to read. Each story is simple and sweet and flows very well with the exception of the last story where I found it a bit rushed, but funny at the same time. The drawings of each of the story are beautiful. I recommend this manga for all of the shoujo fans out there.
