I kinda don't like FLs repaying saving their lives with a love triangle.

Why should ML have to suffer for some indecisive b*tch who after taking his blood and living on his dime runs of with someone else.
Cuc*holding bi*ch FL is had but even being a SIMP for such a indecisive cuc*holding b*tch is down right disgusting.

Disjointed

I loved the first two quirky volumes as much as the next fan, and naturally when it was announced that it would finally be finished after ten years, I was cautiously optimistic. But Hatori's art AND story telling styles had changed so much that the second two volumes simply don't fit. To be blunt it's because volumes 1-2 were fun and breezy and 3-4 took themselves WAY too seriously.

On the whole I'd say it's still worth checking out, but it would have been much better if she could have given it a real ending during its original run.

Split In Two

One thing must be made apparent: this work was put on hiatus for many years as Bisco Hatori-sensei worked on Ouran High-School Host Club. As such, the style of art and storytelling is split between two different parts.

The first part is a decidedly 90s style. The style Hatori-sensei uses at this point looks especially hand-drawn without looking like a rough sketch, and so is very appealing.

Her style of writing at this point is incredibly comedic, never really spending too much time on darker elements. Even so, this doesn't detract from payoff of the story; characters still feel strong and the messages don't feel tacked on at all.

The second part is very obviously post-2010, with very smooth-looking art and more laid-back characterization. Things are much less exaggerated, and it makes for an excellent look.

The characters certainly seem to have grown up in the year that has passed over the real-life hiatus. Not only a creative use of such a story gap, but also a good way of explaining the change in general tone as well as giving a reason for winter to have come once again. The story becomes much more serious by the end; the series may have started out light-hearted, but it is hard to call it a comedy in the strictest sense.

Of course, Hatori-sensei has a way of infusing energy and humor into everything she writes, and this is no different. An excellent starting point and sign of good things to come all in one sequence.

Hatori Bisco is awesome

I was reading Ouran while it was still publishing then when I reached the last scanlated chapter I decided to check other works by Bisco. I thought it was a good story, but it had no end, and even though Bisco herself said that she would continue the story, I had no hope that she would. But after Ouran finished she fulfilled her promise right away and I was really happy!
Even though this story is a cliché vampire/werewolf theme, it's very well made and it envolves you with Chiyuki's story and he desire to be alive.

For those of you confused by the change in the art:
There's a huge difference between the first chapters and the latest chapters because of a TEN year gap (Hatori stopped making this one and started Ouran Host Club)... so it's really different and she got waaay better in 10 years. Excited to read more of Hatori Bisco works.

Instant Fan!

I am a huge fan of this author's other work, Ouran High School Host Club, so when I saw that she had published another series, I gulped it down immediately.

And I will say that it was definitely worth my while.

The love here is tender and sweet, with a tad of cliche situations. However, the relationships between the characters are pretty adorable and overshadows the negative aspects of this manga. Due to my personal biases, though, I can't help but rate this higher than i normally would have. (which would be 7.5/10)

A bottomless pit of a vampire who's anemic. Funny. Touya, was my fave, but I must admit I wasn't really a fan of the art in the first two volumes. Thank goodness it got better! I also liked it up to the last chapter.. then it got dry. but I'm happy with the ending :-)

Evolving art

At first I was highly unimpressed by the art-- just not my preference. Well, I was quite confused when a few chapters in we went from this scratchy technique to this bold shaded technique. After doing a double take (comparing the first chapter to that current chapter) I was finally convinced that I wasn't going crazy. Surprising-- but very happy that it happened. Later chapters are much more beautifully drawn.

I gave the story an 8, because it felt like when the drawing techniques changed so did some of the attitudes of the characters. Like they did some kind of overhaul on the art and the personalities. At first they were both a little annoying and depressing, but as the story evolved I kind of feel like they became unnaturally a little less annoying. Otherwise, good and unique story!

P.S. - Not sure which scanlation group did the first three chapters, but some of the names are mixed up. It gets a bit confusing because typically the first three chapters are where you establish who is who. Satsuki gets called Touya, etc. It's not really hard to figure out, but might throw you off a little.

One of the best manga ever

The story begins with Touya a vampire who is grappling with a 1000 year lifespan as an outsider, a monster, and Chiyuki a sickly human girl who is grappling with her impending death at the age of 17. The question that is asked throughout the series is if Touya is willing to make Chiyuki his partner and have her suffer through immortality as a vampire, never truly living as a human again and suffering through pain that can be worse than death itself. To Chiyuki, she wants to live and experience all life has to offer with Touya beside her. The differences in their circumstances shape the way they approach the concept of a 1000 year lifespan.

Interesting look at immortality and love. Beautiful story and it's amazing to watch it unfold. So happy this was continued after a 10 year hiatus because the ending is amazing!

i absolutely loved this manga in its beginnings. lovveedd. very simple and moving love story between a reluctant vampire and a vibrant girl with a strong will to live. it felt more slice of life and had a slow pace suited for a manga focusing on their day-to-day lives and interactions.

once the manga came out of hiatus, the tone changed a bit, which was welcome at first. the plot began to move, but soon it became rushed and disorganized. i still can't quite understand the ending; it seems like entire chapters of backstory and exposition are missing. the ending is quite rushed and expected, so i'm a little disappointed that the tone shifted to something serious so quickly. i liked the quirky little humor that seemed to come naturally when the characters were just mucking around.

nonetheless it was a nice manga. i hope to see more from hatori-sensei biggrin

I started reading because ofthe drawing style. It was really simple and different from others. Now It is just like any other shoujo art... It's a shame...

It only get points for the story line, that I liked very much.
