Based on Akira Kurosawa's classic 1954 Japanese film The Seven Samurai, the Samurai 7 manga is set in a futuristic post-war world where armed bands of ex-military men roam as bandits and prey on peasants for food, supplies, and women.

Fearing to lose their upcoming harvest to the bandits, the inhabitants of one village decide to hire samurai to defend themselves.

Well people may differ when comparing this manga since it is adapted from an anime which has 26 episodes and the manga has only 2 volumes but the Author was able to fit in all the awesomeness in these 2 volumes.

The first volume was about gathering the 7 sumrai so there was not much but it had explained what each samurai has and their characteristics.

The second volume has all the action and ass kicking, and it was really touching specially the death scenes and the author was able to grab me into the situation (a tough battle in a stormy whether).

Well the manga was put in well in only 2 volumes and the art is really great, some characters look were better than the anime (most of them).

In general, if you havenít watched the anime then i really recommend reading this manga and if you have watched it then give it a shot plus if you are searching for a short and exciting manga series then Samurai 7 is what you are looking for, i really loved it.

I'm a really big fan of the Samurai 7 anime, so I was very disappointed after reading this manga. It wasn't very good. For one, the story suffered from being condensed a lot in order to fit into two volumes. The characters were lacking as well, being as three dimensional as cardboard. My biggest problem (besides the lackluster story and characters) was the art. It just wasn't good. The creator decided to ignore the perfectly good character designs from the show and go with something that looked more "generic anime". Poor Kirara suffered the most. In the anime, she's a strong character with personality. In the manga she's a nonentity. So, due to the awful character designs, the lack of characterization, and the wham-bam-thank-you-maam plot, I couldn't get into this.
