Description
Honoo no Mirage (Mirage of Blaze) is a complexly-plotted novel which incorporates a large number of elements, including romantic melodrama, historical politics and supernatural fantasy. Japanese history predominates the heavily structured story-line, which mainly involves the continued aggression between power-wielding guardians ('possessors'), and the denizens of a 'feudal underworld'- a group of restless souls belonging to long-dead samurai from the warring states period who are attempting to re-ignite those age-old wars in present-day Japan.
I just could say that, this is the best BL novel that I have read.. And it's really a heartbreaking story.. The love story between Takaya and Naoe is truly beautiful, painful, and sad.. The emotions of the characters are written perfectly, made the reader can get their feeling. No matter how many times I read it, I always end with crying.. And it's more beautiful than the anime and OVA because those two are just an introduction in the novel. I highly recommended this novel..
This for me is by far the most beautiful, heart-wrenching BL novel out there..... if you are a fan of angst then this is for you.....the end was soooooo painful until now i have'nt really read it..i just skimmed through the pages...coz' every time i tried to seriously read it...my eyes blurred with tears....i think i need a few days off from work when i read this because i need a few crying days before i can get over it....
No other BL comes close. This novel explains a lot of things, love most especially. All of the characters are well-developed, every scenario very detailed, and every heart-wrenching situation told in the most sensible and profound way. This novel is deep and touching. It's just sad that not many people know about this.
I want to thank all of the translators who made an effort in translating the novel. There are many websites out there with translations. (Asphodel is a great site and there are livejournal translators too.)
This isn't a story with just happy happy and sexing, everyone. This is perfection - or at least, in my opinion, it is. The anime did play a good attempt at trying to show the big web of a mess, but it only showed it from (mostly) Naoe's point of view. Having been introduced to Mirage of Blaze by the anime, I was surprised to find out that it was also very much Takaya/Kagetora's fault when reading the novels. And this only makes my respect and reverence for this title go only higher.
If there is one way to say anything about anything regarding shonen-ai or yaoi with plot, Mirage of Blaze is the best you can get. It's deep, and very psychological and so Naoe and Takaya's relationship hits you right there. At first, you will believe it to be Naoe's fault, but then as you go in deeper, you will see that the relationship between Kagetora and Naoe stretch far deeper into roots like that, so manipulated and just screwed up. Their relationship is more than messed up, and what Naoe did was because of what Kagetora did, and then there is Takaya who doesn't know where he fits into the equation until he regains Kagetora's memories.
The novels are wonderfully written, even if there is like a huge gap of a number of volumes untranslated. If you take the time to read them, you can definitely manage to pick out some scenes that effectively wretch at your heart.
One thing to note is that Asphodel's Haven has done a very good job in translations, but then there are 40 volumes of Mirage of Blaze. There seems to be a person who is translating/translated some of the more later volumes (the last time I checked was about last year, I believe), so a quick google search could help you out on that. So this is also a downside for you all to be in mind of.
This is one of the best yaoi novel that I like (the second is ai no kusabi) action, smut, drama, mixed into one that can playing your emotions! if only they make another ova or tv series. tv series & ova only up to volume 09. the truth is aftervolume 13 is the best part -___________-
Naoe x Takaya..it's really a tragic love story, but yet so beautiful. watch the anime first, and then read the novel!
