Description
Cross Academy is attended by two groups of students: the Day Class and the Night Class. At twilight, when the students of the Day Class return to their dorm, they cross paths with the Night Class on their way to school. Yuki Cross and Zero Kiryu are the Guardians of the school, protecting the Day Class from the Academy's dark secret: the Night Class is full of vampires!

Well, I guess almost everyone who had read this series come to a conclusion...
I have lot things expected from this manga since I love merupuri so much...but everything got very confusing so I stop reading even before the big arc finished.
And I kinda don't like how yuki act she seem quite indecisive about this whole zero vs kaname things

This series is awesome for those of us who love bishies, and as the other comments denote, the bulk of the bishie gorging is at the start. But when the plot thickens, my attitude towards VK changed from wanting "just" bishies to really understanding the complicated story. Over-all nice character development, interesting plot and awesome cliffhangers.

at first, this manga was so good! i first read it when it was being serialized in shojo beat. i was wowed by the art and i fell in love with zero. it was so good that i couldn't wait every month for one chapter, so i resorted to scans. but now, it sort of lost that spark and there's nothing anticipating. yuki lost her spunk, kaname is getting on my nerves with his possessiveness and how he treats yuki. dang, let her spread her wings a little! zero continues to be emo. i'll still keep reading, despite the complicated plot.

Like everybody said...The beginning is interesting but now, all main characters are changed to be bored! Kaname used to be gentle and what's happened on earth! He really turns to be uncool and a little bit of PSYCHO. Please! Don't to be like this.

yeah you really get hooked onto vampire knight when you begin reading it until later when it starts getting confusing. I stopped reading it a year and half ago or so~ and now i'm just waiting until the series is finished so that I can start reading it again.

Beginning was aktuli soo good. But now its just completely like ****. Nothingz happening at all. I m just reading now to see how it vl end. Datz all. Kaname getting annoying. Yuki shez k i guess. Zero being an emo all da time. wat da i mean kumon. Such a shame cus story was gud at beginning

And then it just turns boring and tedious and altogether terrible.
I too loved Merupuri, but this isn't even half as good as that was. Once the first giant arc is over and the big twist happens, everything just goes completely downhill from there. And the incest angle is just...ugh. I love taboo as much as the next person, but there's something especially creepy about how it's played out in this manga. Maybe because NO ONE seems to point it out. They act like it's just common place.
I just feel like it's being dragged out for no particular reason. We all know Yuki is going to end up with Zero at some point because he's just the main guy. So if we could get on with that, that would just be loooovely.

i've read a lot of volumes for this series and am not sure where i had stopped at, ok, the story gets complicated and it's hard to picture the ending result because the characters emotions are like teenage hormones, i want this and then i want that but now i want this...i've been rooting for yuuki and zero for flipping ages!! and am still waiting *sigh* to hear about a final happy ending because they are literally one of the best couples and manga characters there are in the manga world...kaname really needs to die or something

When I first got into this, I went crazy. I was so amazed with the artwork and I really liked the story line. But now it's starting to lose it's touch. It's not funny anymore like it used to be and I can see that it's because things are getting more serious now, but it' s not really a mood lifter like before. Plus the wait is so long, and I get so excited that I finish the new chapter in the blink of an eye T.T.
Nonetheless, I'm going to continue reading this just in case because I really want to know what happens. I just hope that it doesn't become a tragic love story...
I'm becoming very impatient with Vampire Knight. Not only did it not turn out the way I wanted it to (with the whole couples thing), but it's dragging on and on. I'm so close to just giving up on it, but I'm only continuing because I think Zero is gorgeous (but his emotional instability is killing me). I still think Kaname is evil and twisted underneath (can't help it) his calm exterior. I don't know what will happen, but I'm trying to continue hoping that it will get better. I'll be updating this if anything changes.

It's a manga after all, and I don't really expect a manga to have a plot as interesting as a novel does, so I think the plot is good enough. The only problem being too much drama and no comic relief.
Anyway, the art is so gorgeous that even if there was no plot at all it would be worth reading just for that.
The popularity lists? Actually I don't really get them either. There's manga listed at the top of those lists that I would rate 4 at the most. I guess when something gets popular, more people read it out of curiosity.
Spoiler (highlight to view) As for the incest, Kaname looks more like an older cousin than a brother, so it doesn't really bother me.
