Description
Taken from Anime News Network:
Changing schools is something Yuuchi is accustomed to, due to his parent's profession, and with their recent venture to Africa, he is returning to his aunt's home after 7 years. The time that has passed since his last visit has faded his memories of the people he knew, and the ties that bonded them to him, including his cousin Nayuki. Slowly those people, coincidently all being girls, find their way back to him. However, time has passed and things have happened in their own lives that sets the tone for the series. Secrets that are coming to surface, and memories that are returning to not only Yuuichi, but to those surrounding him. A very heartwarming tale that touches upon a spectrum of emotions, mystery, and the supernatural.
Kanon is, as most people know it, originated from a game (visual novel). First thing i have to say about it is: it definitely has one of the best plots of all the manga from its kind. Written over a decade ago, the plot is simply... breath taking. Key's works are, after all, famous for their excellent plots. And that's actually the sole reason why i'm rating it very highly. The manga, other than the brilliant plot, isn't that amazing. The way it chooses to tell the plot is rather confusing and incomplete. Well, not so much the confusing part, but it definitely left me thinking, there has to be a better way of telling this great plot. Which is why I decided to watch the 2006 anime version of this story. It was simply magnificent. Now, i haven't been watching too many anime, but this was the best one i've seen so far. So my recommendation? Watch the anime rather than read the manga. It was billion times better. It's sweet, cute, hilarious, heartwarming, yet heartbreaking at the same time
Manga Version: The art is just alright. The plot is, well, breathtaking. The pace was definitely too fast, should've been at least 2 volumes longer. Not to mention how it didn't include half the plot of the original version (which were brilliant as well). The ending is great for me. So a recommended one i guess. Anime Version: Absolutely flawless in my opinion. So watch rather than read this one.
A really cute and sweet story. The artwork is just great. It is very heartwarming, especially how the ending plays out. Really, it's just a cute Slice of Life/School Life story. I loved it.
