"Umeo meets Daniel, and both take lesson." that is the center idea of the manga. Not uncommon theme, I believe, but there is something that is just special about this manga. It talks about philosophy aspect of aikido (Daniel's martial art) in such un-patronizing way. I find it as something rare. Well, aikido might just be flavoring agent, but I certainly can accept one lesson or two from here.

Quite an insightful manga, and how events in life can lead a person to rely on martial arts. The interesting thing is also the rate at which a young boy and his sister are made to grow up faster and grasp the world of adults.

Would've liked the manga to develop further and tie other losse ends but it really sold the sport of aikido very well.

Well, it's somehow "shounenish" but it takes a look at a deeper side of the main character as well. The main character might be young but he seems to know enough about darkness, he is a bit pushy, maybe more than what some readers might endure, but it's relevant to the plot I think. The side characters are likable and interesting enough to compliment what the main character lacks.

The art is simple, kinda sketchy, but I like that in a seinen manga, so it's ok for me.

So, overall, it's a good manga, at least for me.
