In my opinion, obviously, Chocolate Underground is such a beautiful story. The whole chocolate police factor might create an exaggerated aspect for the story, but it gives the story a serious tone when it needs one. Reading CU kind of makes me feel like a kid again, because it's seems so simple, but there's a deeper meaning to it but I might not understand it right away.
It kind of gets me thinking about how would I react. Would I be a coward like the majority of the story or someone like Smugder or Huntly? I also love how I can relate to how some of the characters feel.
As of right now, there's only been two chapters scanlated and released on sites like mangafox, but there's a good amount of pages in each one. I know I'm saying a lot for just two chapters, but the story started out with a very strong foundation, I believe. Keep in mind, CU is only one volume according to the information given above. I trust that the mangaka has created a happy ending and so on.
The art is drawn by none other than one my favorite mangaka, Yamakawa Aiji. Her artwork is consistent and top notch. The character's expressions are very nice, and the character's look different-- they don't look like they came from the same cookie cutter with different hairstyles. The art is adorable, too. I intentionally read each page slowly to take in all the artwork.
Hoping to read the next chapter soon.
