that end...

It absolutely shattered my heart into a million pieces. Eitarou was by far the most gorgeous character in this story. Maybe it's just me always rooting for the underdog, but I couldn't forgive this ending. I've read a lot of Miyamoto's works, but I am always feeling at a loss with her way of NOT ending things. It left me hanging in the worst possible way. Specially that last page of the final chapter.

But putting aside the ending, this is a good story.

Let me start with saying this, I´m NOT a fan of Miyamoto Kano and I actually do everything I can to avoid any manga written by her, simply because she always disappoints me one way or another and leaves me there hanging and longing for more. I hate that feeling, with passion.

Eitherway, strangely enough I decided to give this a shot. And I´m glad I did, because it changed my opinion of her a bit. Although she did something I utterly despise, like the loose ending, I thought that this manga was really good. Wonderful art ( you just can´t complain about that ), interesting plot, and amazing characters. This is definitly one of her best.
What I HATED though was that Akihiko treated his cousin like a replacement for that old descendant of his, I had a feeling that Akihiko and that old-one ( God I can´t remember the name ) wouldn´t get together in the end, BUT miyamoto COULD have ended it in a cleaner way. Instead she choose the loose ending with the theme; they´re going to "look-for-eachother".

This is a hard one to rate in my opinion, but if you like Miyamoto Kano and is used to her way of doing things, then you should definitly read this. I´m giving it a 7 because of the ending. Also, if you´re looking for sex then this isn´t for you. The sex is there, yes, but if you expect the usual BL-sex-all-the-time kinda theme. Then...you should start with looking somewhere else.

Really this mangaka is such a pleasant surprise every time. Her stories are not light, EVER, but it's worth to experience knots in your stomach throughout. Every time i finished one of her stories, i'm left thinking that all her characters should just make appearances on every other story....crowded, i know, but hey i'm greedy and want more of them. Don't know what though, because it's rare for her to leave readers with an ambiguous ending. Even those i can usually imagine my own version with the details provided.

In any event, i hope she can revisit these characters soon!

I've never been a fan of Miyamoto Kano's but this manga was a page turner. Like previous reviews have said this manga isn't really heavy on the yaoi side. Unlike most of the other mangas out there that tells the story of the romance and relationship between the main characters, this manga actually has a really good plot to it.
I think Horror should be listed as one of the genres of this manga. I was a little spooked at times.

I wasn't a fan of Miyamoto Kano's work after reading "Rules" so I bypassed her other works when I came across them. However I decided to give this a try because of the genre and high rating. Boy, am I glad I read this.

The characters are interesting although I would of liked a little more of their background. That's just nitpicking on my part however. The is a very original work and the mystery made me so anxious, I really couldn't read this fast enough it was so good. Even though it says "mature" the yaoi isn't VERY heavy as it doesn't go into detail or get explicit. Which is fine, the story was so good it doesn't matter. There really isn't much else I can say other than I high recommend this.

I've read some of Kano's other work and haven't been overly impressed. This tale gets an entirely different opinion from me. I was drawn into the story, and quite unconsciously, by chapter two or three. It is certainly a memorable work that I won't forget anytime soon; mainly because of the characters' emotions that are portrayed so well that it's simple to synchronize with them.
The only... Let's call it a quirk... is Eitarou's questionable ending.
If you don't mind being drawn into a story due to the emotions displayed, rather than the plot, then give this story your time.

This was definitely a good pick me-up ESPECIALLY after attempting to read Tetsu x Rika. Bad, bad, bad mistake. Now this was what I was looking for: a bit of plot, a bit of mystery, and dash of psychological things going on in the backdrop. On top of that, we also get to see really interesting characters that fill this series with life. Looking for that moment of mind blown-osity, and I found it all in this one. Dude, this could have been considered boys love almost. Barely has any "mature" scenes, and even when it does, they're not really showing much, so it's ALLLL good if you're not really in the mood for anything hardcore or if you're new to yaoi.

Oh. My. God! I've already known for a long time that Miyamoto-sensei is a genius - I though that her Rules series is beyond compare. Well, I was wrong: Nemureru Tsuki is freaking AWESOME (yes, only capitals!) in a whole new level!

The characters are intriguing, the mistery is fantastic, the romantic development is slow and heart-warming. I'm usually not the one for multiply love interests, but here I found myself genuinely keeping my fingers crossed for Ren AND Eitarou as well. I'm quite satisfied with the ending, too. But still... boy, do I hope that someday Miyamoto-sensei will write a sequel to the story to properly finish Eitarou's thread!

Liquid Passion did a really professional job, and Miyamoto Kano has all my praise. I can honestly say that Nemureru Tsuki is a must read for all Bl fans.

PS: I'd also take this chance and recommend Sugiru Juunana no Haru by Ono Fuyumi and Yamamoto Kotetsuko to those who liked this manga. It's quite similar in setting and story, just leave out the BL from it - though you can easily imagine that it's there. Another great read. ;-)

This is probably the best manga i'm reading right now the story is gripping you so want to find out what going to have next. i love the character interaction the romance is good story is good art is nice there's angst but it's not overly angsty i'd recommend this for anyone who likes yaoi with a good story and an interesting plot and good character development. something you don't find in a lot of yaoi manga's.so far i'v read up to vol 2 ch 3 which kind of ends in a cliffhanger so i'm seriously waiting for the next chapter to see how things go for akihiko, ren and eitorou.

OH MY FREAKING GOD, such a brilliant manga! WHERE HAS IT BEEN ALL MY LIFE, LOL. This is THE yaoi manga of the year for me, no questions asked - just - oh my gosh, the plot, it's so interesting and gripping and unique... The yaoi isn't even the point, it's just an awesomely told ghost story wrapped in a time-travel story wrapped in a mystery that is half-architecture, half-occult...

Akihiko, the mild-mannered if rather geeky protagonist, embarks on a curse-breaking journey that spans generations of his bishielicious family. There are ghosts! There are fox deities! THERE ARE MAD TIME-TRAVEL SKILLZ! It sounds cliched, but for some reason it isn't - I don't know, it's just how the plot is executed that's unique, in a very unconventionally light, crisp way... Despite the fact that there is so much potential horror and tragedy lurking around the edges, the storytelling is still somehow very clear and light and not depressing at all - it's spooky, sometimes (well, it IS a ghost story!), but it's not heavy or morbid. Instead, it's very approachable and realistic and even the internal monologues are refreshingly snappy - actually, that's what makes all the creepy supernatural stuff believable, because the people in the manga react to it in such an authentic, human way. Lots of motivation to suspend disbelief, you know? So much so that even someone like me, who doesn't normally like ghost stories, found myself swept along easily and without any resistance at all.

Part of the reason for that ease is the "casting" of this manga. The characters are fantastic and full of life; they're sardonic and real, and even the guy with the curse on his head, while being reasonably worried about it, isn't uber-angsty or melodramatic about it; in fact, he even retains a kind of spazzy sense of humor that I really love. AND THE BISHIE FROM THE PAST IS SO HOT OMG, I CAN'T WAIT TILL SOME KIND OF ROMANCE DEVELOPS BETWEEN HIM AND AKIHIKO! It already seems to be doing so... Ren is so cute in his charmingly creepy, randomly lustful emo-ness, but - OH, HIS ANCESTOR IS SO DAMN HAWTTTTT. Choose the ancestor, Akihiko! ANCESTOR-SAAAAAN.... <3

/spazz

Lol, I'll come back and leave a more coherent review once I've seen how this manga ends. Or maybe a less coherent review, if the ending is even more amazing than the manga has been thus far! And so far, it's been pure, unadulterated entertainment. It's just SO FREAKING RARE to find a mystery manga of this quality, not just in yaoi but in any demographic...

Fingers crossed!

Stay alive, Akihiko! Stay alive, Ren-kun! Bless you both!
