Description

This is actually one of my favourite yaoi. When I saw the animation for the first time I was a little put off by Chiga's blushing (I mean it's not usual for semes to blush THAT much) but when I read the manga I wasn't even paying attention if he was blushing or not anymore, the story was THAT good. Kokusai is best described as "Simple." Sometime it makes you think why the popular, handsome Chiga is all over him except getting chased around by girls, but I realised that Kokusai's naive, innocent personality is what draws Chiga in. It is true and we can see this in the story ~

Also, the smex scenes are actually very hot! Monchi portrays the emotions (Usually from Kokusai) so well that it even leaves me teary-eyed in the end. Not just pure, porny smex, but with emotions in it that's why this makes it one of the special yaoi's. biggrin

I totally recommend this to those BL fans that haven't read the manga, and since it's licensed in english, it's WORTH every penny so you should buy it! smile

Chiga is sooo hot and kokusai is so adorable! ^_^ Kokusai is definitely a feminine uke, but not annoyingly girly. I actually really like him. The story also has likeable side characters, and is more on the side of the fluffy school life shoujo type of yaoi. Although the plot is scarce and revolves around smut which let me say is SO hot and steamy *_*. I like.

I came to this via the first manga I ever read, which was also by Monchi-sensei, so I have to admit to bias, but I adore this series. Monchi does embarrassment so very well, and with such humour; poor Kokusai's mortification, as the space cadet brought low by lust, had me in fits. When Chiga, the cool guy, completely lost his composure, I thought I'd die. Monchi makes things as excruciating for her readers as for her characters. And then the smut happens and she doesn't do thing by halves there either, does she?! For those of you who've only read the English translations, as eye-popping as the build-up in vols 1-3 may be, the pay-off comes in vol 4 - and how.*

Humour and smut aside, the series includes some good supporting characters, enough character development to get by and some solid art: Monchi knows her way around physical proportions and bodies in motion (no over-sized hands and miniature heads here) and while the facial features are a bit unsexy - cover up the mouths and they look a lot better - the characters' faces are nicely individualised. All this helps to distract from the relatively trite storyline: it’s got its fair share of plot standards but I get the feeling that Monchi wants things that way; she’s showing us just what a good mangaka can do with a bunch of hoary old clichés by both poking fun at them and illustrating them so brilliantly.

So why am I not giving this series a 10? Well, it's against my personal code for one thing - if I give a 10, where do I go when I find a series that's better? No, the reason lies in vol 5, which in my view falls as flat as a pancake, containing very little character development and (whisper it) even less smut. This listing mentions a 6th volume (UPDATE: Now available in Japanese at an international retailer near you) so one has to hope that the series will be restored to its former glory at a later date.

*801 have announced their intention to publish vols 4 & 5 (April 2012)

Ohgawd the smut. ♥ It's great. I love how they both are devoted to each other, but are unable to communicate it through words and so have to do so with actions. I first watched the OVA for this series, which made me hate Chiga at first because his blushing annoyed me (but I'm usually annoyed by anime adaptations of really good manga), but after I read the first volume I completely fell in love with it. c:

Wait, too much nipple tweaking e__e Was sexy at first, but got kind of overused...

When's the next volume coming out? BECAUSE I WANT IT UGH

It's one of the best yaoi manga I've ever read. This is going to be my top favorites & I'm gonna get my hands on this! Give it a try! You won't be disappointed!

Story: 10/10

Characters: Idiot couple but still, 10/10

i couldnt keep up with what was going on, the panels were all crammed and giving me a headache. I couldnt tell who was who without seeing their hairstyles, and the characters seemed flat and boring. also they are unrealistic.

the kids getting groped on the train, and he likes it??and doesnt fight back? then some dude breaks in his house and gropes him while he's asleep and he doesnt wake up? WTF?!

Now... I've read hundreds of yaoi manga... but this one is probably in my Top 3 favorites list. The art may not be everybody's taste (I was put off at first too), but the story makes up for it big time and you'll get to like it ( had same experience with Yamada Yugi).

Main Characters:
Chiga may be your usual popular, vain seme, but his big heart and sometimes sadistic streak (initiating the smut) makes him a very sympathetic guy.

Kokusai. I love him. He seems like a dull and naive uke, but this changes once he gets a taste of smexing with Chiga.

Which means he'll become permanently horny.

And how he copes with that change is simply hilarious.

Storytelling:
I'd even call this a comedy. The awkward situations in which the characters unwillingly get themselves into and desperately try to get out of, their way of speaking, silly metaphors... Kaori Monchi is an expert in these fields.
Another thing is the flow of the events. Every change of expressions and thoughts is captured, which adds to the impact of whats going on. And god... the smut scenes... ~10 pages for a masturbation scene ...an average of 30-40 pages for a sex scene... is there a similiar manga like this out there? i can't think of one...

Anime: It's awesome, but it does not really live up to the manga. I think it's a bit too fast paced and some things are left out, but that's normal for an anime based on a manga...

Info: I've read the german version up to vol.4. It says "to be continued in Vol 5" and the afterword implied the same, so I changed the info of this page...

And lastly: BUY IT! you definitively won't regret it.

It's even worth buying. bigrazz Here's a little summary which includes some spoilers from the first few chapters, so I rated it as "spoiler", but I think I still don't give away too much ...

Summary:

When the school head boy Kokusai is molested in the train, the good-looking vize head boy Chiga becomes his bodyguard. While fighting off the butt-grabber in the train Chiga wonders what is so special about ordinary Kokusai?! And before he knows he's head over heals for his senpai.

When one day Kokusai is sexually harassed in his own house, Chiga's there to save him and to make Kokusai forget the horrible events of that day, Chica gives him a proper hand job (typicall Monchi-Surprise-Twist ^^). After that, Kokusai's megahorny (all day long), so that the friendship they both shared develops into a sexual relationship. But is the sex the only thing they share? Why doesn't Kokusai understand Chigas feelings when he so desperately tries to show him with his whole body?!!


I really loved it and bought it up to Volume 5. It's typical Monchi, but this time it's not THAT crazy, so you can understand what's going on even as a normal human being. Furthermore it's really hot, while being still a little funny. That's what I love about Kaori Monchi's works. smile

Addition: I'm so happy it's still going on! Yaaaaay! \o/
