Description
A collection of oneshots bridging the gap between shotacon and mainstream BL. While the uke in this collection are ridiculously adorable and childlike, they're far from victims. In fact, they do the lion's share of the seducing. In her first commercial BL publication, Miroku-sensei blurs the line between actual innocence and acting the part to get what you want.

Not as bad as you might think - for shota...
Rating: 6.0 / 10.0

Don't really read shota but I heard of this one and as it seemed different I decided to give it a go. It didn't disappoint.

Now, only the first and last of the three stories are really shota and in the third one the kid's in his late teens and it said they hadn't gone all the way yet so it's not that bad I guess. The ukes only look like children so this was like yaoi for shota lovers who don't want to feel guilty for reading it.

As for the first story, it wasn't as bad as shota usually is (for me at least...) First of all, like it says in the description, the kid isn't a victim. Whereas in most shota an innocent and naive boy is taken by some dirty adult man (and the kid, seeing as we're in yaoi-land, ends up liking it...ugh!) here the boy does the seducing and inviting willingly all the while knowing what he's doing. Unlikely as it is in real life, it was unusual and made the story that much more interesting.

I also thought it was nice that the uke was portrayed as a bit twisted and manipulative. He isn't the kind of character you feel sorry for for getting his innocence stolen because he wasn't all that innocent to begin with.

The seme on the other hand does seem more conflicted here in comparison to other stories I've read. There's a darker ambience in the first sex scene that I thought reflected the seme's state of mind nicely. It sort of seemed a bit like he was going out of his mind. He did give in a bit too easily but don't they always? The smexing, I felt, was more artsy than smutty, which I liked.

The second story with the student council members was my favorite. The uke was quite a funny character punching, kicking and throwing the much larger seme around. Violence shouldn't be funny but here it kinda was. Not much going on in terms of plot but it had comedic value.

The third story was just for people with a kink for cute boys with animal ears and I didn't think much of it. Though I did like it how even the child like uke's grandfather was such a little guy. That was funny...

The art wasn't bad, it was clean and some of the effects used were nice but, aside from the ukes being stereotypically child-like and pretty, the semes weren't hot at all. Ugly semes=fewer points in my book. I'm giving this 6/10.
