Guess I'm just a scaredy cat...

Well... unlike the two reviewers before me this manga creeped me out... maybe it's just because I don't much like scary things and don't read to much into horror but this manga did manage to send chills down my spine and just give me an uncomfortable feeling.

Each short story had a different plot, two of them were connected. One I understood the other two... I was kind of confused at the ending. All three stories had me hooked, I needed to know how they ended (whether I understood or not) and they all managed to creep me out. The art was suitable for the story and at times managed to be very creepy looking.

I'm not sure if I can say I enjoyed the story or not... on one hand they were interesting stories I can't help but enjoy being creeped out over and on the other hand I don't really like the prickling feeling and looking over my shoulder the rest of the day... Do I recommend them? Not sure, if you like horror I guess. Of course if you like horror and read more of it maybe you won't find these stories that scary... how should I know? I'm just a scaredy cat!

5/10 - Was all right

...but the stories aren't really as predictable as VampireBanana claims. They were short and dark, especially the 2nd one, and I enjoyed how they didn't end with the "banish the horrible monster and live happily ever after as if nothing actually happened in the first place" theme that most of the present-day 'horror' stories seem to follow.

The art was nice and clean; while looking like something out of a normal shoujo, it still manages to attain a gloomy, foreboding feeling appropriate to the story setting.

The plot was rather rushed, and the last story had an open ending which I wished had been more elaborated upon, but it also seemed strangely fitting with the theory behind the entire manga; 'You can never decide whether urban legend is true or not. There will always be that nagging sense of doubt'.

If you like less brutal and explicit, more subtle horror stories, then try this out. I assure you that you don't have to be a scaredy-cat to enjoy it.

In contrast with the previous poster, I kinda wasn't afraid of the tales at all. I mean... they were kinda predictable and I'd an idea of what would happen next since the
Spoiler (highlight to view)
"creepy looking" expressions and very gloomy atmosphere sorta gave away the whole thing 'cos when something bad was about to happen, those 2 things would often come up out of nowhere and they'd also come up when a "hint" was being given out
. I give them some points for trying to be creepy though since there was this vaguely dark atmosphere. Too bad it didn't really deliver much for me. No ratings 'cos it's more of a personal preference than a failure on the part of the title.

I guess if you're easily freaked out or are looking for just somewhat creepy things, this might do for you.

If you're looking for far creepier stories, there're all those horror stories with black humour or those by Itou Junji.

And if you're looking for more horror stories, also try Fat, Semi-Eternal Happy End, Zashiki Onna, Dragon Head, Poison Strawberry, Pet Shop of Horrors, Sugiru Juunana no Haru, Shiki or even Ghost Hunt(just a slight dose of it).
