A funny manga which relies heavily on misunderstandings
by whitemanga

Rating: N/A
...especially the fact that the protagonist misheards what the poor guy who's in love with her says. Since often those jokes can't be properly translated into other languages in the end it's probably 50% funny than what could really be. Also the story is rather repetitive, but it doesn't become boring, rather it becomes more and more absurd.
The linguistic barrier is its worse defect I think, for those who don't know japanese unfortunately. But I like this manga nonetheless.

Completely and utterly lost in translation

You probably have red the description, so you already know what the girl MC is trying to achieve - protecting her chastity from the non-existent thread of a classmate of hers fucking her, which he wouldn't ever do (not in the rapey way, she seems to think must be the norm, at least). I am not going into how she basically assumes that he will rape her and has no issue with that, but only with the losing-her-verginity part of it, which you might find strange (I do), but whatever. Back to the topic: So, we know the manga is about a girl misunderstanding what the boy MC is trying to tell her. Mild spoiler ahead ...
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Each act (you know, "act" ... if you will) is introduced by her wildly misunderstanding something the boy MC says and interpreting whatever as a declaration of war (= intention of sexual assault). Then she immediately reacts following the idea of Offence Is the Best Defence in that she will
1) somehow blindfold the boy MC,
2) whip his dick out and
3) get him off by simulating penetration with whatever she has on hand.
Now, that alone sounds kind of funny. And in the beginning it is ... sometimes. If you overlook the ridiculousness of her "techniques" which, I assume, are supposed to be part of the fun (the fun for you, the reader, you know, as in: the gags ... to be fair, they really are funny in some instances), the big problem lies in the introdutcions.

... aaand spoiler out: These misunderstandings heavily rely on Japanese word play that doesn't translate well to English; in fact, after a few chapters in, most of the time, it doesn't translate at all -- meaning, unless you know and understand the Japanese original (or can recreate it from the translation), most of her misunderstandings make no sense whatsoever. It just doesn't work in English, not at all. It is literally one person saying something and the other person understanding something completely different and no connection inbetween ... and you, the reader, being all WTF?! As the avid consumer of fiction that you are, you are very familiar with the concept of Suspension of Disbelief. And while that concept can be applied here, too, in that you may not always need to comprehend (and/or agree with) everything the story gives you in order to get the gist of it and maybe get a laugh out of a gag, it only takes you so far ... definitely not far enough here. So, the manga may be genuinely funny in its own language - I can't tell -, but if so, it is definitely killed by translation. To make that clear, I'm not blaming the translators or saying they do a bad job. Fuck, not at all! I think, it just doesn't work in English, unless you carefully re-engineer the original wordplay in English ... which may be completely imposible most of the time for all I (don't) know.

Seems like we were reading very different mangas here.

In mine, a chick with a moral compass that don't point north REEEEALLY wants to do it in all sorts of crazy ways, and does just that - but feels the need to find crazy-ass loopholes to justify that doing whatever new crazy crap she does as supposedly the "Good Girl Way" out of a situation. And is doing at least half of this (possibly most or all) for the sake of shits, giggles, and cheap justifications for yandere femdom.

It's all a game for her, no??

i read this and think that unless this manga develops in a way that everything is cleared up then this thing is just going to suck. It's the same story with no developments at all. However if they just change it a little instead of using the same story line for every chapter, then it could be pretty good.

The story is okay. The heroine of the story is such an idiot that it kind of makes me not want to continue but im still hoping to see the story actually progress. The first 7 chapters are repetitive so far so its getting boring. Overall i hope the story gets better and stop being repetitive.

Why all the bad reveiws? I thought this manga was hilarious (at least the first volume I read) I mean, yeah, I wonder if Makino got dropped as a baby on her head, or if she is half the time just deaf, but I found her halarious and I thought all the ways she used to tricks Suzuki into thinking he's had sex with her were clever!
Maybe I will have to try those tricks someday and keep my virginity, it was so informative (though who knows what is true in it lol ) and the hotdog bun scene was classic. Anyway, I thought this was a good manga, even with the fan service. I mean it is meant to stay a comedy, so the only way it would be messed up is if it were to be made to be a drama or something serious.
