Description

I love - and totally agree with - iyakuko's review. This is such a faithful and BRILLIANT adaptation of Wodehouse... Seriously, I can't even imagine anything the slightest bit better. This adaptation is the literary-minded otaku's wet dream. And Bertie totally is an adorable jelly - that only Jeeves is capable of scooping up with his silver spoon!

The previous reviewer focused on Bertie, so I'll focus on Jeeves. smile

Jeeves is so splendidly solemn in this manga - composed and courteous to a fault, just as he is in the books. He's awesome - dour and stolid, the unproclaimed master of devoted deadpan. That's why, when his expression deviates at all from that flawless seriousness, it's so fantastic - like his expression right at the end of the first chapter, before they depart for their holiday together. I don't know, but doesn't that expression portend ravishment-by-cruise? A smile that treads the fine line between carnivorous hunger and fond affection... Oh, my.

This manga captures one of my favorite things about the Jeeves/Wooster dynamic - the fact that they're so imbalanced and yet so perfect together. Jeeves is so utterly superior to Bertie in terms of intellectual prowess, and yet is totally devoted to Bertie - silently nagging his master like a fond, exasperated and yet painfully dignified wife. And he's so gently, lovingly and silently Machiavellian... Yes, this is my Jeeves. (I mean, Bertie's Jeeves! I wouldn't dare lay claim to him.)

Someone, ANYONE, please translate this manga. I'll help! Um, in editing it. I don't know a word of Japanese.

Probably my favorite manga discovery of the YEAR, since Odette and oriana3k pointed it out to me. Thank you both. <3

Even if you can't read much Japanese, this is worth getting if you like the original. It's quite a faithful adaptation from the incident with the cats to the pinching of policemen's helmets. Much of the text is a direct translation.

Anyone who normally dislikes manga but loves Wodehouse should check this out. The bug-eyed reaction shots, bizarre background montages, and other wacky manga effects are put to good use showing Bertie's constant state of terror or bewilderment. Never has he appeared more exactly like a jelly!
