Make love, not war

Ok. I don’t approve of “loving your enemies” and such because I was bullied and betrayed, but the relationship is heart warming. I don’t like the rape, but honestly, it’s erotic and unavoidable to watch. It’s not easy to abandon your allies and side for one person you love who belongs to an enemy, but Irving did it. Good for him. Yamamoto is such a beauty indeed. The ending is tender, and the extra is quite funny.
The other story is more intriguing with so much seduction and rape again. I actually knew the twist that turned into an on turning bliss.

Japanese Patriotism?

I felt like this entire manga was a symbol of Japanese patriotism, with some hot sex thrown in. Now, as a international reader, i felt slightly uncomfortable with this because it seemed as though the mangaka was saying 'Japan is the bravest' and 'We have a great country' which is fine, but it seemed rather unfair that the other country (whatever it was) was depicated as the villians who had none of the Japanese traits and even had their colonal COMPLETELY betray his own country for love. Now this was covered up with the pretense of love, but really underneath it all, he had betrayed his kind while Yamamoto did not and instead saved his country. Putting aside the whole betrayal part, i always enjoy some interracial coupling, even if they are outrageous and so this one is not any different. The ending was happy and i enjoyed despite my discomfort at some parts.

Hm. I liked it, it's good if you're looking for some rough wartime action. And I'm not complaining about realism and such, because you can't do without some melodramatic inadequacies in that kind of story.
However, there is just one detail that made me laugh, sarcastically.

What's up with guys turned on when the guy they love (or lust for, whatevs) is raped in front of them (usually by someone they hate)? I've seen that in some yaoi already, and I think it's even more unrealistic than the whole guy fall in love with his rapist thing. I mean, what's exciting in that kind of situation? Seriously? Imo, that's more of a turn-off, or I am the only one thinking that way?
Well, anyway, I find it amusingly stupid, but that doesn't mean I'm not gonna read (and like) the whole manga because of that.

I really have difficulty finding this touching as it's soo silly and melodramatic. It was, however, pretty amusing because of that. I couldn't bring myself to dislike it because it made me smile.
My favorite of Mizukami Shin's works!

I really loved this! I was kind of doubtful in the beginning cos it was so cruel. But since it was pretty clear from the start that the colonel is completely obessed and falling for Yamamoto, that made it interesting to me. The art is beautiful and I like the character design, Yamamoto actually looks Japanese, while Irving is obviously caucasian. Both are stunning. And the plot twists! I almost cried and I'm not usually too sappy but this was a truly touching story really. I'm so glad there was a happy ending to it! And quite a funny one too..

I get so annoyed when readers complain that the story isn't realistic enough. If you want reality don't read a story. This is someone else's imagination, that person has the right to write however bizarre the situation may seem. Though, I admit, at first I thought to myself that it was too extreme. The way they treated Yamamoto at first with such brutality, how would you expect any romance in this? But I believed on the raitings and kept reading. Thankfully things turned out well. The Colonel kept Yamamoto to himself not letting other guards touch him, which I thought was really sweet considering the situation. When Yamamoto was sent to the higher ups I really thought he was going to get gang raped. My heart was beating so fast, I was like "Colonel you shit hurry up!". The fact that the higher dude couldn't insert his penis came sort of comedic for me. I wass thinking it was the mangaka's way of buying time, instead of the Colonel magically appearing right away when he just came from the cellar. Anyway, I really liked how it ended it was so moving. Though some things were left unclear like when Yamamoto blushed when the Colonel asked him "have you done it with a man?" and the Colonel assumed he had... was it true or not? That part wasn't explained. I think the mangaka forgot about it. But atleast she could've inserted somewhere "Colonel you're my first" or something like if he really was. So other than that the ending left me satisfied and pretty much grinning like mad. It was really sweet. And the extra! it took me 2 failed downloads to find it. The extra was just lovely!
The General Dandy was quite comedic too. "Aww, you're so hard" lol like any General would actually say such a thing. And look at THAT twist! Keep reading it till the end you guys ;) I actually want a sequel T.T

Mizukami: Shockingly Lush, Beautiful and Violent

Seriously. Shin Mizukami is INCREDIBLE. She always does something shockingly good with plot and art. But she is definitely not for everyone, since her work usually involves elements of graphic violence and sex. Her military works are especially dramatic; and this title is included among the best of her works. Her art rivals the era of the Baroque artists with it's theatrical lighting. Her stories could have been melodramatic plays of the emotionally intense and psychological Hellenistic era of Greece!
And besides all that anguish and raw human emotion, she also includes humor in her art and words that always makes me burst into a big laugh!

I'm not a yaoi fangirl, but I do like to read the occasional yaoi. I like yaoi that has a good plot, hot bishies... and a good plot. I mention plot twice, because I can't stand PWP yaoi. "Imprisoned Beauty" is anything but PWP, in my opinion. It has a plot and interesting side characters. Sure, it's unrealistic in its portrayal of the military as a raving gay orgy (haha), but the story still works. You just have to assume this is all happening in some alternate universe where, you know, everyone's gay. But really, isn't ALL yaoi manga a bit like that?
The one-shot "General Dandy" was also really good. Sexy and dark, but with a good plot and a wonderful ending. Definitely worth a read if you're into darker yaoi.

the art is amaizing, Yamamoto (the uke) is really gorgeous. But you don't really remind the plot after finishing reading it. the events are also unrealistic (well they would be if we were living in a world dominated by gay ppl ^^): like the way they tried to make yamamoto speaks by shoving a monster dildo up his ass, or how the colonel irving is falling head over heels for yamamoto.
but well it won't hurt reading this manga since the artwork is so pretty. (my glasses were steamy while i read it ^^)
what you'll find in this manga : angst, rape, exhibitionism, passion (ohhh my my so much passionate embraces !), smuttiness, kinky sex scenes, at the very end, a bit of tenderness^^
to summarize it all : it's a 10 for the art and a 6 for the plot.
