Description
From Del Rey: Most people fear Yokai - Japanese spirits - but young Hamachi wants to befriend them. He sees them as mischievous creatures that could coexist peacefully with humans if only given a chance. But when his grandmother dies under mysterious circumstances, Hamachi journeys into the Yokai realm to search for her killer. Will he succeed in his quest, or will he be lost forever in a strange new world?
I'm a big OEL fan, and I'd wager I've read most of the OELs available on the American market, but this one is truly exceptional. Art, character personalities & designs, pacing, story, comedy - it doesn't let you down anywhere. It's a shame its relatively unknown and doesn't get more love, and even more tragic that it's apparently stuck in limbo like so many other OELs before it.
Edit/Update: I have been in contact with the artist, and she said that with Del Ray getting taken over by Kodansha USA, there will be no physical volume 3, but she is considering making it a web comic.
