First of of all, again, don't impose moral on this kind of story without considering background of this or anything in that sort, which I'll elaborate below.
Reading thru this, as some 1980s manga, this sure was different to most 1980s manga I have read be it drawing as in crystal clear yet surreal drawing and certainly the story. This is more like, 1920s coming back thru its German Expressionism style which is actually film thing but apparently Maruo used it for this indie manga. Totally worked.
As it is, German Expressionism is strong, emotional, and with good thoughts which proven thru this manga, until the end.
Why, just in case if some are confused or digusted, or both. Well, it is because of child slavery and abuse on Midori and all that digusting stuff revolved around her. Keep in that mind, thru those style it seemed like it was set in 1920s hence a 12 years old girl, would mean something more adult compared nowadays. Mr. Masamitsu, while he was manipulative to which he had good reasons, of all shady characters. In the end, it paid off thanks to him.
She deserved it.
That was only story and character wise. Now, pretty sure I did write about aesthetic wise, didn't I? Those characters lived up to the stereotype of German Expressionism which not exactly bad thing. At least, their eyes esp. Midori's and that snake woman one, were darn cool for that genre.
Worth it.

If anyone actually enjoys reading this, I'll have to really doubt about his state of mind.
This is the first manga that made me want to vomit.
Well, since it's published, I guess it's targeted for a certain group of population, but it is not for the majority, I can guarantee.
