Excellent, emotional, angsty read. Of course it's also a bit melodramatic, but that's expected from Shimaki! He stories are always a little over the top.
The story is very different from most reads. The heroine is in love with her sister's boyfriend. The sister is gentle, loving and kind. Mizuho on the other hand is a bit childish, spoiled and brash. She's a flawed individual. The boyfriend, Shu-chan, is also brash, but very caring.
So, the sister is NOT painted as being some nasty shrew to gain sympathy for the heroine. The heroine is genuinely guilty over kissing Shu-chan. She has a good reason to feel insecure when compared to her mature, kind older sister and she has a reason to really feel bad about her feelings for her sister's boyfriend and the fact that she never truly gives up on having him. Shugo himself is conflicted over why he can't leave Mizuho alone. The sister is gone, but he's always visiting the house and keeping himself involved in the family's life. Why?
Shimaki tells it like it is in a situation like that. What happens when two people fall for each other in a situation like that? It's a difficult ride, but they can't deny falling in love.

Wow...I really hated the younger sister. She was a spoiled ugly brat, and was terrible to her older sister, when the older sister was actually SWEET and CARING. So, I was FURIOUS by the end. Tsch. T_T

...oh man, and here I was thinkin' they wouldn't end together...
art: GOOD.
If you wanna be all "doki-doki fall in love" then read it, but if you're lookin' for something different...I think you should skip it! :/

So the mangaka's sayin' "hey if your sister's dead don't worry you can have his boyfriend".

Nothing less from Shimaki Ako-sensei. Her stories may be a bit surprising compared to other shoujos but its still a good read. May I also note that she had always have that sense in delivering lines (raws or otherwise). I like it.

Well this is the first manga for me where I actually yelled "DAMN IT!" when I found out who ended up with her. I mean, I'm fine with the guy trying to move on after the tragedy but the way his feelings came about was rather...rushed and a little stupid (since Shirai merely mentioned his concerns on him being a rival and that made Shuugo suddenly blush around her). The jealousy pang felt kind of childish and I found myself muttering 'so she's not allowed to depend on anyone else but you? Grow up and move on stupid and stop hanging around your
I really felt bad for Shirai since he had such an adorable personality and I loved how he was very honest with his feelings for Mizuho and all the things he did for her *cries a bit at when he asked Mizuho to ask/pray to her sister
Anyways the art was nice. I didn't like the girl that much from the first few pages since, like the description says, she stole a kiss from her sister's boyfriend. Her sister wasn't even bratty or catty or anything like that to even merit that kind of behavior. She actually stood up for her in the first few pages.
I didn't care for the guy that much either. He seemed like the stereotypical tsundere male lead that most shoujo girls fall for...and of course, I've already made my thoughts about Shirai clear... *runs off into a corner and cries again*
Well if you're looking for the typical happy ending then read this. Admittedly, I was hoping for something different when I finished part one.

First of all this is probably the first manga i've read with this plot. Off course the art is wonderful haha. Let's see.. this is definitely really cute.. different from many other oneshorts i've read. It's somewhat unique in it's own way and i really loved it. I really liked the ending except i still found it really sad when her sister died "Her sister really is a nice person" is what i thought and the guy is obviously hot haha. All in all i'd give it a 10 (:

This is one story where I don't want the girl to get the guy in the end. We'll see though, maybe Shimaki-sensei will save it with one of her fabulous twist endings. Depending on the ending, I'll either love or hate this oneshot!
Of course, her art is as lovely as ever so that makes it at least worth a try
