This graphic novel by one of Japan's most accomplished artists tells the unsettling saga of twin sisters born on a dark and stormy night in Tokyo: one normal, and one a demon baby with a taste for blood--a Hell Baby. Tossed into a garbage dump in a plastic bag, Hell Baby dies, but is brought back to life by an unworldly bolt of lightning. Hell Baby develops hard-earned hunting techniques to survive life among the wild animals who roam the dump. After struggling along for seven years, she seeks revenge for her fate and returns to the city, where she applies her hunting skills for survival--this time against the good citizens of Tokyo.

Replete with Hino's trademark black humor and unflinching imagery, Hell Baby is a classic horror tour de force.

This is honestly one of the best manga that I have ever read. It is so beautiful and so well written; the narration is absolutely perfect. Never had a manga touch my heart like this one. Even though some might believe that the art is very bad, I think it matches perfectly with the story, if it were drawn any other way, I personally think it will going to completely change the way the story's mood. I cried reading this simple and beautiful manga. I think everyone should read this.

Overall, LOVE this story. This is probably going to be my #1 manga of all time. It's truly a work of art; a masterpiece.

To me, this is more of a tragedy than a horror story. If you read it expecting to be freaked out or scared, you'll probably be disappointed, but story-wise I really enjoyed it. Personally I like the art, so saying that it's bad or ugly is definitely subjective.

Despite the art, the story really is something, covering the art
I really learn don't judge book by its cover from here
yes the artwork kind of disturbing, but talk about disturbing, Junji Itou's is MORE disturbing
yet Junji Itou's work never leave me such a so-heart-wrenching feeling like this one does

the art is typical hideshi hino which is always very and technique are always bleh

if i would describe this with 3 words i could say it was freaky, funny and gross...thank god it wasn't as gross as another one i've read in the past from hideshi hino (can't remember the title) that made me sick in my stomach while reading it

it's ok i guess but nothing more than that

The art is unique, which isn't always good.

This series feels like it tries to portray a series of a morals in a horror setting. The standard for what is horror goes up each year though and this just doesn't cut it any more.
