Description
From Storm in Heaven:
At the beginning of the XX century, the relationship between England and Japan was strained. England wanted to extend its influence over Japan, and Japan wasn't willing to let any other culture pass its borders. Koto, though, a Japanese girl, didn't care if the people she meets have almond shaped eyes or not, or if they wear a kimono or a western dress. Actually, she is fascinated by this foreign way of life that brings so many innovations into Japan. More than anything else, it's the clothing that seems to grab her attention, as she wants to become a tailor and create dresses for women of every culture.
Unfortunately though, she's a woman, so she knows her dream will end as soon as she gets married. She will have to start acting like a noble and a respectable woman would. In fact, she is betrothed to Masaomi Kidoin, the second born of one of the most important and oldest families of Japan. The day she's told she will marry Masaomi, Koto attends a ball at the British Embassy and meets Sagitto, a half English and half Indian spy that captures her imagination and heart. But can their love story have a happy ending when the British and the Japanese are tracking down Sagitto because they want him dead, and Koto is forced to live a life that doesn't fit her?

Love Waltz, Dislike Koto

Wow! Koto has to be the most completely unlikable main character I've ever run into. She's engaged to marry Masaomi but gets involved with Sagitto, even knowing that he's is technically an enemy spy. A normal person would call off the engagement at this point, even if it was arranged by their parents, but not Koto. She marries Masaomi anyway but continues to have her affair with Sagitto on the side, while going around acting like she's the victim in all of this. I don't really think much of Sagitto either as he knows she is engaged then later married to someone else. If it wasn't for Masaomi, I might have not even finished reading this only due to hating everyone else. Overall, this is a really great manga even if most of the characters are not all that likeable.

Horrible!

This story has the most horrible heroine I've seen in any manga. She doesn't think of or give a damn about anyone except herself in the whole story.. She marries one guy, then dumps him and goes off with some other guy that she professes to be in love with, but doesn't spare a thought for her husband.. I keep wondering what both guys saw in her to even like her in the first place. I'd have been happier if the story had ended with her dying somehow.

Wow, I love Saito Chiho, but I totally hated the heroine in this. She was so incredibly self-centered that I wanted her to die a horrible death. This story seemed like a wish-fulfillment fantasy a twelve year old spoiled brat would have, where everything revolved around her. I rated this two instead of one because I liked Masaomi and his brother (who stars in the oneshot Lilac Nocturne that I loved), and the art of course was lovely.

I found this manga really addictive and it's got a great plot. It's true what someone commented, that the characters don't develop a lot.Still,it's not a long series so that's okay. The art is beautiful and it's got enough romance and history. If you like those themes it'd definately recommend this one smile Can't wait to read the sequel!!!!!

For anyone who doesn't already know the historical background, the politics may be a bit confusing. Still, a dramatic and sweet story with a brave heroine who won't give up her dream. I feel as if the characters aren't developed enough by the ending, which then feels like a cop-out. Still, it is a sweet shoujo romance that has no major flaws to it.

as usual, graphics drawn by Chiho Saito are beautifully drawn, even with the comical anecdotes. i like the idea of the story... the storyline was as good as everyone mentioned it was

HOWEVER, i feel somewhat dissatisfied with the way the plot developed.. like everything's just going too fast and there wasn't any clear background to anything... like a 100m dash, next thing you know, you're already at the end.

it would've turned out a lot better if there was more development of characters, their backgrounds and expansion of the plot... i mean, it's already such a good story... just too bad she didnt spend more time on it i suppose...

but seriously, this is a good read... it's good.. but could've been better... still deserves a 10 smile

just finished this manga, its so touching, and as already mentioned, it really makes you feel sorry for the characters, one in particular near the end. There's a sequel to this as well ^^

After finishing Pansy, I had to go find a manga of which had a similar artwork style.

Waltz, here I am! At first, I grabbed the wrong series (>__>) [aka this one], of which I read a different story's summary... but nonetheless, after finishing the first chapter, I wanted nothing to do with the other story!

I am truly amazed at the concept. YAY FOR DIVERSITY! And I really feel sympathy for the characters. This is a really recommended series.
