Nostalgic Memories
Rating: 7.0 / 10.0

This will be a very personal review. First of all, I believe that I if had read this manga in these present days, my rating will be different. Is a story of a boy whose destiny is to become the next leader of a mafia family. Pretty typical nowadays. The only twist given to this was that it was played for laughs: the protagonist, due to his usefulness, couldnít accept it.

Overall, all the characters are bland. They all could be described in a sentence. Still they were pretty enjoyable to watch. And it was easy to care for them. I personally found myself being very empathic with the main character. Likewise, the plot is something easily improvised by the author but worked fineÖsometimes. Also, the fights were actually good. But thatís the least part I remember.

The thing that I found it to be the most outstanding is the art. It wasnít so captivating at first, at least for me, but it gradually became its own thing. I believe Amanoís style is kinda charming. Her art has a personal touch that avoids a generic style.

Now my biggest problem: the last arc was terrible. When I mean terrible I mean it so. It felt so purposely anti-climactic: wasted potential, sudden plot elements that werenít even showed before, bad structure itself. The ending also killed it for me. I remember feeling hope that at least the conclusion will be great. But at the end every sign of character development of the main character is thrown to the trash can. It was obviously a rushed ending, but I still donít get why it happened like that.

In summary: Reborn! isnít something new nor is a masterpiece (is far away from that). But it had potential to be an enjoyable story until the end. And I really want to share it as such, but I can't.

I will only recommend this to those who are in an urge to read something. Or to somebody with a lot of spare time and who doesnít care about reading something that may leave some mixed feelings.

Different Kind of Shounen

If you're looking for shounen where the character's emotions somehow turn the tide of the battle through no logical manner whatsoever this is not the manga for you. I love this story. The battles are well thought out and every character is so memorable. Are they one dimensional? yes. But most shonen that have as many characters as this one does tends to have the same issue with characters. Although the 'comedy' chapters are just awful and maybe after coming back from the future it should've ended like in the anime, I am a fan of KHR always.

Read it as whole!

I remember that I finished this series last year and it left me with no amazing impression, the plot was average, the main character was weak etc.....well, just the art was astonishing...but few days ago I came across this series again and because I missed the art (I totally remember how I was in love with Mukuro, Yamamoto and basically with all black-haired characters biggrin ) I decided to re-read it again and it was worth my time. Even thought the first 70 chapters were fucking slow in development and sometimes it got boring, I got throught it and it became better as there were some arcs gooing on and some characters development. I remembered Tsuna as good-for-nothing guy, but now that I have re-read the series all over again in few days I changed my opinion about him. I think that you should read this whole at once, as I started reading this series few years ago and so waiting for new releases disturbed the pace, but now when it's complete it's whole different matter. Try it!! smile

I love this series, but a long time ago I came up against some walls. Now that I have been able to fully read it I can only say, I wish there was more. This series was so good. The relationships between characters was so strong in each their own unique way. I want to see where it will lead them. All I can say about the almost end is that it was so good, that I stayed up all night then fell asleep while trying to pretend to BE asleep so that my family wouldn't make me get up. That plan backfired, they ended up having to wake me up. Either way. It was awsome and I 100% thumbs way way high...................... I only wish there were more.

I stopped reading from volume 9 or so, and from there I would only see instances of the art.

Poorly written, but can I just say--

CHRIST THE ART IS AMAZING

There were a couple of aspects that felt a little rushed in the moment of ending things, but... I must say that the story along with the characters in the series are pretty great, the artwork honestly made me drool in some of the covers since they hit the right spot for girls *wink wink*, besides that, the battles and partnership that the story evoques are top notch, they makes you feel the loser state in which Tsuna started and the feelings when he grew stronger, it makes you want to grow stronger too ;3...

The comedy in the series is awesome, at the end it made crack up in laughter and yell in desperation in stressful parts!!

Anyway, if you haven't read it, please give it a go and see for yourself, this is and it's not your typical shonen manga, but as a girl, you can totally relate to it fully... or that's what I think.

Forever One of My Favorites

I have loved this series so much! While there was potential that wasn't taken advantage of, that's no reason to miss out on reading this great series. From gag to action, the jokes were great and the fighting never failed to please. The character relationships were deep and all the situations were enjoyable. It was a pleasure to get to watch Tsuna and the rest of the Vongola boys mature and turn into dangerous badasses (the sweetest ones in fictional existence probably).

My only complaint would be that there is still so much more I want from this manga.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I want to see them go to high school. Is Tsuna's mother ever let in on the secret? Does Yamamoto's dad ever decide to find out what his son is doing that has him so devoted to the sword? If so how does it change things? Does Ryohei ever figure out its Ipin? How does Hibari overcome the pain of leaving his beloved middle school? And don't start with me about him making that society, he still has to go to school elsewhere. I want so much more!
I wish there was more of the nitty-gritty. The story essentially stops at the place where so much more in terms of violence and true mafia/yakuza action can happen. I guess it's too much to ask for a sequel where we get that kind of manga.

Seriously though people, it's a good series and is what fully won me over to the wonders of manga in general way back when I first started reading.

A little flawed, but what isn't? Wonderful leisurely read.

I don't know about you guys, but I have a lot of time to waste. I've pretty much read all the popular action mangas, and I really have to say this was one of my favourites.
Sure, the plot gets weird at times, even stupid maybe. But it's not that bad when you compare it to everything else, and I would have to say it was rather creative. There weren't any major cliche parts that made me blanch.
Besides, I really loved the characters, and the art was adorable and expressive. I don't go around looking for flaws when I read a manga, and I found nothing that greatly affected the reading experience.
The only thing I would really complain about is the lack of character development in the protagonist, and the lack of "stuff" happening between the protagonist and the girl.
Other than that, I highly recommend this manga, and I think that anyone will be able to enjoy it if they're willing to.
