Well it actually happened. Sasaki Aya's story was chosen to be adapted into a manga and while I haven't heard word of whether she found that woman again, the reason the story seems to end so abruptly is because that was the reality of the events. Kudos to her for trying though, maybe someday.

It was a good story but it's not really enough with just being a ~60 page one shot. It's a story that doesn't really have an actual end, just a vague "to be continued..?!?" ending.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
"Even now not a day goes by when I don't remember her" is a quote right from the beginning as the character is telling us the story. But than at the end when she is getting her one-way ticket to Tokyo, obviously it's to go find her but that intro quote makes it seem like they see each other again.
The lack of ending really bothers me since it makes me only think that the ending is sad for Aya. It being 3 years since Hiromi left for Tokyo, I wouldn't doubt that she had been forced to marry by her parents or if she finally rebelled/left (and didn't go to find Aya) than that it's less likely Aya would be able to find her.
Aya spending 3 years working so one day she can stand tall with Hiromi, and all I can think is that she'll only end up heartbroken once she gets to Tokyo (or spend her free time searching for Hiromi only to end up empty handed).

Looking over again, I could hope that the last page drawing with Aya and Hiromi together is them together again (and not just a memory of Aya's) but I'm not too optimistic on that.

I really enjoyed this manga for the simple reason that it is very realistic and being a lesbian myself I truly felt what Aya was going through... the confusion, the obstacles... The only thing I wished for was a few more pages of what happened next! Otherwise the characters were very real people to me and it was a very cute story.
