Beautiful And Cute

I simply LOVED it biggrin.
This is my first time writing a comment. This manga is too good to go comment-less.

The manga beautifully portrays the emotions and fears of a doll who was always hated by people and called a monster. It finally finds love in his new master. But there are troubles to go through and solve before they can be together.
A perfect manga with the correct blend of angst+happiness.

Sweet n' Sad

My favorite mangas of all time.
I thought it was really cute and I really loved the ending. It was very touching to me. So sad...

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I couldn't believe that he'd give up his education, his "life" committing to knowing how to fix his beloved "doll"(sorry I forgot his name). And for 13 years, just for his love.... It made me cry. Really heart wrenching....

The giving up of something really important or necessary to a person, just for another in act of selflessness, love, kindness, is just something very admirable...
But what made me cry the most, & what made others cry too, is when after Shin passed away, and the doll never moved again.
"Those two must have gone to heaven together." I believe that they are in heaven together.

By the way, I started crying again after typing in my thoughts of the manga above & remembering what happened.... Really I am. My sister's wondering why I'm crying right now. lol
I'm such a crybaby... {='P

I know the plot throws you off...another of those "doll turning human" plots, but give it a try! It's a wonderful story with such a beautiful ending. It brings you to tears! No, it's NOT tragic..the fact that the doll lives off his master's love should give the hint that they'd be together forever. Such amazing dialogue too, the way the characters expressed themselves. Everything just fit perfectly together. There weren't any unecessary drama. This story will make you laugh, cry and the extra gives you a little somethin somethin wink
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Cause when it ended, I was about to deleat the yaoi in the genre but the extra makes up for it.
Anyway, I've read this author's other works..but this one is her best so far.. I was really moved. Their dedication to each other... such serenity! I really love it.

MISHIMA Kazuhikos works are normally all a little similar and not tooo deep but lovers Doll is just great and in my opinion her best work. It's really cute and the development of their relationship and the characters is very touching.

Words cannot express how much I love this manga! It far surpassed my expectations and wasn't as sad as other reviewers made it out to be. As of right now, it's among my top five.

I mainly love it because the story is extremely cute, interesting, and original. Perfectly paced, it covers everything you want to know and nothing you wouldn't care for. Additionally, Shimeji is well-developed, despite the short length of Lovers Doll; he's haughty and stubborn, but oh so incredibly kawaii when he yearns for affection. Every time I saw the mini, doll-sized Shimeji, I'd be all like, "KYAAA!!" In comparison, we learn very little about Shin.

As for smut, it can only be found in the extra chapter. I felt that the bodies looked slightly odd, as if the mangaka isn't use to drawing naked men doing naughty things (if you know what I mean wink ). However, she's published lots of yaoi in the past, so I don't know what happened there. Overall, the art style is nice and clean—pretty standard in my book. Those looking for pages upon pages of hot-and-heavy stuff should forgo this. Conveniently, the minimal smut allows the reader focus on the heartwarming romance. I liked that because I have difficulty finding such an enthralling romance in manga.

While I wish Lovers Doll was longer because of its unparalleled cuteness, I'm glad it's only five chapters. It takes you on the thrilling ride of an unusual love, just without all the boring stops in between.

i may be hormonal or what, but the end (before the extra) is very very sad. it is supposed to be a happy resolution of course, but somehow thinking of being unchanging and with someone older and older withering away....no joke, i cried. this is the type of manga i like, simple plot, likable characters, cute interactions and the little extra that make me moved. that's why i give it a high rating eventhough objectively there's nothing special in it. but i think, over all this manga is very cute and lighthearted, so don't be discourage by what i said before, it really is not a tragedy!

Mishima-Sensei~ What else can I say? I've read most of her mangas because I just love the twists she puts to the whole Seme and Uke roles.

I've read this one about three times and I'm pretty sure I'm reading it again in the near future. The plot isn't amazing, nothing unique. But the characters and the cuteness makes up for the lack of originality.

The art? Amazing, as always, again nothing extraordinary, but definitely above average.

The manga is nothing spectacular or out of this world but it's definitely a nice lighthearted read. It's short but it's definitely not a waste of time. It's a good breath of a fresh air from those dramatic, angsty yaois with the raping and mean semes ^_^

Characters: 8/10
Art: 8/10
Plot: 6.5/10

So cute! Likeable characters and a sweet plot, and a great ending. I agree with what most people have said about the end, it is really touching. A bit sad but in a sweet way (you'll understand when you've read it!) The extra was good too, I didn't think what Shin said was so bad because it was obviously a lie. I admit it was kinda mean of him but as it wasn't the truth then I can forgive it.
As for the art, it's not amazing but it's so unique that I like it. To be honest I would've liked more smut (Mishima-sensei always delivers good sex scenes so it would've been nice to have more. Even more kissing would've been enough!)
A nice little story :]

Strange how incredibly cute, heartwarmingly sweet and yet painfully angsty this manga is. The characters are very nicely done and the story is quite impressive - I generally like Mishima Kazuhiko's works but I agree that this one is one of her best. I felt my heart ache near the end when
Spoiler (highlight to view)
that crazy guy attacked Shimeji. It was so awful to see his cute doll-face broken, and when I saw Shin crying over him.... my god, I was really touched.

Just like with the end. I was surprised that Shin spent 13 years on learning how to repair Shimeji by his own hands, but it was really sweet. However, the text on the second last page was what totally got me gasp for air: "Many long years later, the master's life was finally nearing its end... and even then, the doll remained at his master's side.
... And when his master finally passed away, the doll never moved again." I was actually touched to my soul. Really.

Unusal from Mishima-sensei, there really isn't much "action" in this story - near the end of it I thought it will end with shounen-ai (I would be alright with that, too). But the extra has a really yummy and sweet bed-scene.^^

The only reason I didn't give it 10 is that I preserve that to my absolute favourites. But this is definitely a must read. smile )
