Description
From Media Blasters:
Zashono Academy is unique in all the world. It has 54,000 students and this allows for some VERY specialized clubs. There are clubs for just about everything you can think of... and then there's the Eiken club. No one seems to know just what it's about, but they do know that it's filled with some of the most bodacious babes ever to be brought together! ...and then there's Densuke. Densuke is a little awkward and clumsy and he always seems to be in the most compromising positions with all the other club members. And all he really wants is to be with the cutest girl on campus, the lovely Chiharu. Will he ever be able to get away from the uncomfortable club activities and let Chiharu know what's really on his mind?
I will preface this review by saying; yes, I have a creepy bakunyuu (giant boobs) fetish. unu;; I know it's unrealistic and weird, but there you go.
So obviously, this was the main appeal of the series at first...but after reading a few chapters, the lovable characters and goofy comedy were much more worth it than the fanservice. Matsuyama's humor is pretty repetitive, but there are definitely a few gems in there if you have an immature sense of humor like I do...
The characters could probably be considered flat by many, and...this may be true, but there's something about them that still makes them lovable. Even Densuke, the ur-example of Wimpy Harem Protagonist, has a sort of charm to him. One thing I liked about the manga is it paid more attention to a lot of the "minor" characters like Sensei and Lin than the OVA did.
The art...takes some getting used to. The anatomy leaves much to be desired at some points, and the faces look somewhat odd from the side, but once you get used to it it's fine. Usually the younger characters (Komoe, Kyouko, Teddy, etc) look a bit less awkward...
Would I recommend this to most people? Nnnnot really. But I sure as hell enjoyed it and if you like boobs, ecchi comedy and long-running series, I suggest giving it a try. It's a fun little guilty pleasure.
eiken just repetes itself over and over but dont worry once in a while something new happens and then it just goes back to the same old thing i read up to around chapter 50 got bored and skipped up to about chapter 100 and it was still doing the same thing so i dropped it i highly recommend you don't read this but that's just my opinion
EIken is your classic Ecchi/Harem comedy, with some of the same ecchi stereo types you find in most of these mangas. I bought 5 vols, in the 07 long beach Anime Expo and have been awaiting new releases since then. While reading I couldnt help but reminisce about Love Hina and thew Burn Up series. Regardless I really enjoyed the first 5 vols though the OVA does dissapoint some but its never really fair to compare anime and manga versions of a series i.e. Full metal Alchemist stpry diffrences and Naruto non stop fillers lawl.
I loved this manga with the help of the OVA. I first watched the OVA and I was like... HUH?! Pure ecchi and fun thats all. I enjoyed it without even understand what happened in the end. Its rare for me to enjoy something just because its funny and not for the storyline. I always stick with manga and anime on the storyline but this one took away everything I believed and showed me that a brainless manga can actually make me enjoy it. Sadly it has not been translated much up to today. I have read the first 4 Volumes and will soon read the 5th. I am glad the 6th came out recently showing this manga has not been forgotten!
On the surface, Eiken's ridiculously proportioned characters might give you the idea that it would be a campy, comic-parody of the ecchi genre. After all, a series with 8-year-olds with FFF-cups has to be poking fun at itself, right? Sadly, that's not really the case, and you end up with a series that is too long to be comically bad and filled with characters that only appeal to those on the extreme side of the giant breasts fetish.
