From Yen Press:

A young man, driven by jealousy over love, tells a lie that accidentally results in the death of his older brother. Some time later, Hiro is kidnapped and confined to a room with eight other people, each wearing a grotesque animal mask. This is completely different from doubt! Unlike doubt which uses crappy plots like hypnotism, I find this more intelligent and thrilling! All the backstabbing and betrayal have certainly got me so mad that I want to get into the story to kill them myself! Which is good, I guess, the author did provoke some emotions in his readers.

Can never get enough of this, every chapter is a suspense; I just want to know the ending already!

P.S. Hopefully the arrogant trio die!

Theories on animal heads

I disagree with the idea that Judge is a bad manga, and I think the plot is very different from Doubt, I've only read volume one of Judge but I finished Doubt and can tell a huge difference, Judge is much more of a "formal" killing, it's more intellectual, it's more based on reason (as reasonable as serial killers can get) where as Doubt is far more sparratic, there's no time line, there's no telling the victums why they're there or mapping out who to kill first and why, it was just trapping rats in a box and bumping them off one by one, where as Judge is much more about systematic killing, making people realize why they're there and instilling that kind of fear in them

As for Yukiko-Chan mentioning one guy was there because he was gay, I'd like to correct that, Judge hasn't been completely translated yet, we don't know that's why, he said HE thinks that's why but that doesn't mean it is, if you look at movies like Nine Dead and the SAW series people often make mistakes about why they're being judged and what their "sins" are, if you look at the doodles on the spare pages in Judge, you'll see that there's an animal symbol for each of the sins, for example, the chibi lion has "pride" written next to it, if we remember that Kazu wore what looked like a wolf head and the wolf had "greed" written next to it, we can determine that perhaps the reason he's there is not because of his sexuality, but because he said "I grew up in a well off family but was never truly happy", it may have to do with his family's money, as we found in Doubt the background stories aren't always revealed right away, for all we know, he did something that has to do with his family's money that DOES constitute a serious sin, he could have kidnapped or murdered someone for money because he was kicked out, but he isn't confessing to it, I say before we make any blanket statements we wait for the entire thing

My thoughts exactly. For me it goes from a social commentary into the implications of vigilante justice into some psychopaths wanting to see murder. Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining. Don't talk about justice and then have someone being coerced into committing crimes. It's like, is someone going to get selected because another person sneezed and they didn't say bless you?

Cheap Thrills

It's a bit too early to comment heartily on this, but it's more or less Doubt with different rules and characters - and I only mean that in terms of names and appearances. The same issues I found with Doubt are also apparent. I was craving more exploration into the mental conflict of characters put in life or death situations. Instead I get characters who are stereotypical, unrealistic and ultimately unmemorable. Art's pretty sub par too, and looks like it's more befitting of a shoujo. However, in the manga's defense, the plot twists (as clumsy as they are) are interesting enough to keep a reader going just to see who will die next.

On a different note, as mentioned in the summary, the premise of the manga is that the people are brought together because of sins they committed. Whereas some of the sins were for theft and murder, this one guy was brought there because he was gay. Seriously?

I've been anticipating Judge for a while, so I can't believe I missed the release.
So far the premise of the story is that nine teens with animal masks have been imprisoned in a room and all are awaiting judgement. One of these nine teens is named Hiro, and he is the protagonist (he's the rabbit). A mysterious doll tells the teens that they must decide who among them deserves judgement and who deserves forgiveness for his/her sins. Only four will survive.
Very similar to Rabbit Doubt or Doubt. Same art. Similar plot. Same creepy masks. Although it's too early to say whether or not this series will be good, assuming that Tonogai Yoshiki hasn't lost his touch for suspense and horror, Judge will end up being one hell of a ride.
