Gravitation is, by far, the anime/manga of my life. I was 14 the first time I watched it - and I'm done with puberty already. You can guess how excited I was when I first heard of the sequel, and more so last year when I knew Murakami-sensei was to resume her work here. In half an hour I re-read my own copy of the first volume and I know now it was the worst thing I could've done.
I embrace changes for the better, but Gravitation's new art style is tasteless and cartoon-ish. Yuki is nowhere near hot and even Touma looks like a freaking fourteen year-old.
Shuichi looks and acts like a stupid dummy. Yes, he goes naturally hyper and he's naturally stupid but he always had a solid character both in the anime, in the ovas, the first manga... now he's just pointless and over the top. It doesn't even feel like he cares for Yuki at all.
Hiro-san is completely out of character - oh wait, most of them are. He now cares little about their music, concerning himself only with their fame and success as a gay-friendly band.
But overall the art is just terrible. It's impossible to take this manga seriously (who am I kidding? by the end of volume 8, we were all seeing it coming). It's like I'm watching Metal Masters, for Christ's sake.
I'll probably read it through, according to my needs, because Yuki will forever be the love of my childhood. Still, so far, it's not worth a 10. And believed me, I've quarrelled a lot with fellow anime-lovers to prove Gravitation was worth a 10. Lol.
