I like it enough by Name-Undecided on May 14th, 2010, 9:58am

Well Hagu looks and acts like a particularly dimwitted 6-year old, so the "love triangle" revolving around her is disturbing, to say the least. I just tell myself the two guys see her as a "muse" and not as a romantic object of affection and that helps gets me through the manga, but I've only read 3 volumes so far. Holding off on a rating for now.

Amazing by Jeli on May 4th, 2010, 5:20pm

I have to say, I really didn't like this manga at all when I read the first seven volumes. I thought that all the humor was getting pretty annoying and fksdlf just didn't like it.

A year or so later, I watch the anime series and my opinion changes. Drastically to the point that it's one of my favorite series now. I re-read the volumes up to volume seven and focused mainly on the inner thinking... and it was so much more amazing. I actually think the jokes are funny now, lol.

This story was so beautifully written. I can't believe I put it down the first time I read it.

I cried at the ending. It was so ... sweet.

Takemoto, Yamada, Mayama, Morita, and Hagu. I love these characters. I could especially relate to Takemoto and Yamada. They're sweet, pure, unrequited loves that they chased after. The inner thought of all these characters was amazing. I'll never forget this series. One of my favorites along with Lovely Complex and Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou.

I would re-read this manga any day.

10/10, deep story.

Eh... by xxLOVE on January 2nd, 2010, 9:06pm

I have to say that this is one of those mangas that I just don't like no matter what I do. I've tried reading it again and again but I simply drop it because I don't understand what is happening in the manga and it simply confuses me throughout. This manga has to be one of the "worst" I've read and I just can't stand it.

Very unique. by yumemiru on August 3rd, 2009, 5:56pm

It's strange. This was one of the few manga that I didn't like from the beginning, but loved when I reread. I don't know what it is about this manga, but I find just about everything quirky and charming. I remember reading the first volume and thinking "what the heck is this about? I don't get it". But now that I reread it, it's funny to me. Everything in it is amusing, and deep at the same time. It's an amazing manga. Please check it out if you have the time!~

I like it =) by elalendi on January 19th, 2009, 4:39pm

I only started following up on the story a few months ago when I saw it in Shoujo Beat magazine, so maybe the art was worse in the beginning but I personally loved the art. I like the mangaka's style, it's really different, but cute. The plot is also pretty good... love triangles and unreciprocated love and the like. Now the story IS a bit slow but it can't be helped since it's one of those sad-and-sweet-slice-of-life mangas like Cat Street or Kimi ni Todoke. And it's supposed to be realistic, which it is. Overall it's got a heartwarming feel to it. I personally prefer it to the anime or the drama, just because it's the original.

Not So Bad. by lizardcake on August 20th, 2008, 7:54pm

The manga is all right, but it's starting to get really confusing. I like the live action a lot better. Maybe the anime would be good too...
I don't really recommend this manga if you aren't really into slice of life shoujo. But it is very cute, and for some reason, (maybe it's because they're art students) it always inspires me to draw.

My first Josei!!! by surabhi147 on June 6th, 2008, 4:25am

Honey and Clover proves to be the most touching tale I've read/watched ever. I've cried so many times, it isn't funny!!
I love Morita!! He's such a whack...he totally keeps the humour in the story with his crazy antics. And Takemoto is such a nice guy...awwww...and of course, Mayama with his stalking!! Shuu-sensei is pretty crazy too. Esp. matters concerning Hagu.
It still puzzles me that Hagu's an adult.
The manga has been translated upto 12 chapters only....I'm following the anime which holds true to the storyline.
I love it till now!!!

Beautiful. by Checkers on May 3rd, 2008, 4:06pm

Hachikuro is one of the most bittersweet, believable, heart-warming manga/animes I've ever seen. And that's saying a lot. It's not your typical shoujo fare - where all is light and happiness, but instead, it chooses to explore depth of character and the reality of relationships. Not to mention Morita Shinobu is just full of WIN.

Don't judge it by the artwork. In fact, a recommendation: WATCH THE ANIME FIRST, if you're spoilt by all those shoujo artists who draw in beautiful, clean detail. Also the anime is actually finished and _available_. -cough- >.>

If you want something good but more on the humourous side, go for Nodame Cantabile!

The most pretentious slice of life/romance manga ever by TJM on April 4th, 2008, 3:13am

This one is really, really bad, it should be tagged as fantasy i'd say.I don't get why it's so popular, things move so slowly, things are so unrealistic it hurts reading the dialog.Everything is so...so pretentious, its really tiresome.

Cant stand it!!!! by Masura on March 4th, 2008, 9:08pm

I tried I really did and this one lost my interst a lot quicker than Crimison Hero and Kaze Hikaru did. Though I'm sure that this manga is a great anime and live action show, I cant stand the manga, the art wok is very scratchy and in my mind I cant read it with art work that looks so bad
