Description
Summary refers to the Ohzora Shuppan re-print, 2007:

1) Lovers and Souls
Shinomiya is a beautiful college art student who lacks the morals common to most people. After agreeing to be a nude model for Matsuoka, a photography student, he also agrees to sleep with him for money even though he is straight. However, what started as a small taste of the forbidden soon spirals out of control when Shinomiya begins selling his body to other guys as a prostitute in a male brothel. Can Matsuoka save Shinomiya from himself?

2) Vanity
After the events of Lovers and Souls, Tooru is still deeply heartbroken. Trying to find solace in Hikaru, Tooru challenges the terms of their friendship. But can he handle the consequences?

3) Sleeping Beauty
Matsuoka sees Tooru for the first time.

4) A Moon in Name Only
In their last year of high school, Akihiko Nozaki admits to his best friend Kai that he's gay. Kai is stunned but it doesn't change their friendship, but Kai's curiosity is aroused and he begins to see Nozaki differently.

5) The Name of that Sky
Sequel to A Moon in Name Only, told more from Nozaki's point of view. Nozaki isn't sure whether to trust that his relationship with Kai will last, since he's even been dumped by gay men before. What's to keep a guy who wasn't even gay from breaking up with him?

Hearbreaking yet so beautiful by Chainless on June 15th, 2009, 9:29am

I honestly love Lovers and Souls. The story of Tooru and Matsuoka is so sad it's heartbreaking and I cried so much while reading it but still at the same time it's just so beautiful. I prefer series with happy ending but Lovers and Souls is perfect as it is like this.

The words neither could never say and feelings they could never show create a very sad and touching story which have that realistic touch in them that I love in Miyamoto Kano-sensei's works.

Totally in love with this one and I warmly recommend it!

Heartbreaking and beautiful by stillarium on November 30th, 2008, 7:51pm

I think Lovers and Souls is one of my all time favorites shonen ai manga. Miyamoto Kano's characters and her stories are so realistic. It's been over a year since I first read Lovers and Souls and I still feel sad every time I read or think about it. It's amazing how one grows to like Matsuoka-senpai, even though he only appears in one chapter! I began reading Rules before I found Lovers and Souls, but I do prefer Lovers and Souls... it's so sad there isn't a happy ending, but then again it wouldn't be anything special, I guess. I even read this once with a male friend who is straight and usually not into shonen ai... and he was deeply moved by it and said that while he read the ending he forgot everything else around him.

Ahhh I just love her works. They're realistic and not all about sex like other yaoi. I can't think of anything more to say other than what has already been said, but just just read it.

Hard by blueseeker on February 11th, 2008, 1:01pm

Am sort of addicted to this series which i wanted to put off until everything or atleast in a sequence was finished. Needless to say i started reading and now i cannot stop, the hardest part is trying to guess who will end up with whom and their names...particularly when sometimes they look alike.

I wasn't so sure when the manga started.. i thought it was going to be just another pretty boy. I was Wrong!.. It's not just about sex, the story keeps you interesting and the relationship is sweet. I was crying in the end, a definite must read.

Cute and then some. by candyloop on March 2nd, 2007, 4:14am

Modern point of view and sober writing are Miamoto’s trademark. Even readers that are not into yaoi, but don’t mind reading about homosexual relationships might like her work, definitely not mainstream yaoi
