Description
From Serenus Dreamers: Amy always falls for the wrong guys, and she is bad at judging guys. First, her first crush makes her into a slave, secondly, when she confess to a guy, he practically pushed her down, and finally she was cheated by her former boyfriend. Is working with Shuu in his pawnshop to become better in judging men a right choice?
After reading this and Black bird I'm starting to think Backstage prince is Sakurakoji-san's best work so far.
While the premise is interesting, especially involving an Pawnshop. it fell completely short.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Amy never learns from past mistakes, she's constantly fooled again and AGAIN. Shuu isn't much better. he's constantly physically and verbally abusing Amy. Whacking her head and calling her idiot or moron. Sure, just because it's suppose to be comedic doesn't make it Okay.
I don't know WHY Sakurakoji-san is following the trend of "Stupid, naive girl falls for the cruel jerk whose nothing but trouble."
I will credit her for making the characters' appearance an bit different. mostly hairstyles.
one word 4 this manga...wow!!!..i thought it was gonna be a 'so-so' manga...be i love suprises...i ended up laughing and giggling almost every part of this awesome manga...it's definately a manga that i'm gonna remember..and thrust me i read alot ;D...but only so few can leave an impression...and this is one of them.!!..it's a definate must READ!...but dont juz take it frm me...go and read it!!
Ok I had to write a comment about this one because it's so spectacular. At first I thought it would be nothing special but I found myself reading it again and again which I usually can't do with most mangas. This one was original, dramatic and the couple was super cute ^_^ also yay for the ending, one hates a manga with an unfinished feel and this definitely isn't one of them
So... how many of you have found a down-rite bishie at a pawnshop ???
KYYYAAAAA well you'll find one in this book and he's the ideal princeeeee>> (maybe i shud say "king")
It's a really cute story and I definitely think that if it had a few more chapters with no implications but the continuation of their story wudda been awesomee>> i mean the final chapter(4) did give that spark and it was adorable, and LOL, u shuda seen megumi at the end>>
but i think if it had more sadness, like not emo-pesimist type sad, but like she misunderstands when he isnt lovey to her and says something like, i like u lots and ill do anything for you but if u don like me, its ok, its not like im been dump for the first time and ill leave>> and then she crying ut smiling as she walks out the store and they don see eahc other for like 2 days or something and she crying and he keeps thinking bout her.....Kyaaaaa just thinking bout it makes me feeeeeeel so exciteddd>> then of course he catches ehr and she tries to run away but he says i <3 uu and they make upppp>>>
(okkk i may have gone alittle cliche there but i think it wudda been really cute if that happened :p )
this manga is definitely worth reading! it' really cute and unique in a way. i've never read a manga that has to do with a pawnshop and all, have you? the art is great and it was short but really good. wish it was longer though 10/10 (:
If you have the time, you should definitely read it (especially if you like Sakurakouji-sensei's other works). It was a sweet story with just the right length. I actually would've liked to see another chapter just to see the relationship between Amy and Shuu more, but the extra chapter helps. I really just wanted to say that I have to agree with Alaena Night (below).
Is this completely original? Well... not exactly. Is it downright amazing? Not particularly so. Does it stand on top of its genre as blazingly unique? Nope.
But this story is interesting, and I loved the way most of the scenes took place in the pawnshop. It's certainly a setting that I've never seen used before. Some of the scenes, like one that took place outside of a hospital, were touching and unique.
The female lead does have some qualities that you see in a lot of series, especially an over-dependece on men, but her reasons for being that way are adequately explained, and I wasn't annoyed by her character in the least. I could hope for some independence on her part, but it's true that some people are really just that gullible.
I was very interested to read this short series, and I loved the extra story especially. This series isn't ground-breakingly awesome, but it's definitely a good read. It doesn't really explore new ground in manga, but it doesn't feel like it's overtreading the old stuff, either.
This series is good for a leisurely read. It's short, but does extremely well with its length. As a plus, the art is excellent. And if you're looking for pretty faces, you definitely won't be disappointed.
