Description
1-5) Honey Baby Already wise to the world and yet still naive to love, 14-year-old Aizawa struggles for affection from the one he loves, his 27-year-old teacher, Tachibana.
6) S Kaoru is a guy who likes to play the field. He says he's in love with someone else yet in spite of this he still has sex with Junya out of convenience. Seeking pleasure, the two would meet casually several times a month to have a few drinks together and spend the night at a hotel. There was never any sort of confession, but both made known to each that this was nothing more than a sexual relationship. They still haven't gone all the way though and Kaoru never forced him. These sometimes gentle, sometimes sweet situations are starting to give Junya doubts about what their relationship really is. The tension that Junya feels from jealousy added with his uncertainty with what Kaoru feels for him confuses him further and he wonders was love ever there?
7) That's Another Law of Love Kikuchi has been ruthlessly dumped by his girlfriend, and his classmate, Yada, volunteers to cheer him up. But Yada has his own secrets, which eventually come out, confusing Kikuchi. Bitterly, they both want to know, Why does Love + Sex have to be Man + Woman? Or does it just have to do with love?
I've loved everything I read by Yamagata-sensei so far, and this was no exception. As with yaoi there is sex, but the characters are lead by their feelings for each other, and not just by lust. Their interaction with each other is really well thought out, and while reading you get the feeling that the mangaka really took efforts to add depth in her story. (If you liked this you certainly should go check out more of her other works :3)
Very cute story. A love between a Student and Sensei. The art was whispy and spare. But it was still able to covey and experess strongly. I lovely read.
I agree with pleochroic's response! Yamagata sensei's quiet, eloquent, thoughtful and thought-provoking, vivid articulations left me longing to express desires through poignant descriptions on blank canvases long into the night. I am off instead to check out more of sensei's work...
what i like about this is the run through of emotions and thoughts within the characters. the dialogues are also good. the artwork is not as clean like others but definitely interesting. i can see that the mangaka is an intelligent one and i like her works and one is this story.
Thin, delicate lines make up the artwork in this sweet little story, both of which I found very agreeable. A minor gripe I'd have is with the sometimes huge hands, though. Anyway, in line with the overall introspective thoughts of the teacher, the sex scene wasn't hot (this is not a bad thing, really) or exaggerated. But it worked. I think... I'd really like to see more works from this mangaka.
this is a perfect little story, with very spare yet expressive art. it's got nothing in common with the usual teacher/student fare; it's thoughtful and thought-provoking. it doesn't invoke high drama in order to reach the reader; it does so quietly. i don't give a 10 easily, but i seriously can't think of a thing i could do to improve this story.
