To clarify, there were two manga series, a shoujo one by Tammy Ohta, and a shounen(-ish) one by SHAMNEKO (Satomi Akai), which is the one this article talks about. The shounen one is very much in the spirit of the anime. The first few chapters are kind of random, but in volume 2, she starts the major plotline of the secret magic society which is deciding whether to admit Takakura and, eventually, the others. This manga has been translated into both Spanish and Italian, but, except for the first few chapters, not into English. If I ever have time, I might try translating the rest.

I've looked at the two chapters and they're pretty cute. I didn't enjoy it as much as I liked the anime, but this was likely because I knew that there were no more completed chapters. It's somewhat surprising that this never caught on like similar manga out there, but it is what it is.
