The Pearl Blue Story
Rating: 9.5 / 10.0

A very sad story about a heroic boy who lost his mother and a tragic woman who lost her child. There's a lot of psychological studies going on underneath the surface. The emotions expressed were beautiful, yet subtle. My only complaint is that I wish for a different ending. It's still a satisfying read that makes you think and the artwork is absolutely stunning as usual.

I've read 1, 5, and 15. While 1 and 5 are beautifully drawn, they're not really all that special. I Am Piano (the fifteenth), however, is marvelous. Stylistically, it's stunning. Great artistic choice and some really solid line art. The plot is also beautifully subtle. Not much happens, but the mangaka manages to convey some really wonderful emotions in just a few pages (if I remember correctly, the manga is less than ten pages). Really, I'm just so impressed with this one shot.

I've only read chapter 15 (I am Piano), so I'm just going to be reviewing that one. So there's not many one-shots that feel complete, but this one definitely does the trick somehow. It's a story about a personified piano. Very poetic.
