Description
A collection of stories:

1-2) The World Revolves Around You, The World is in Your Arms
"Maki-kun, you really are cute!" That's what my very good-looking classmate Fukamachi said to the definitely plain looking me. Since then Fukamachi kisses me, touches my skin, and follows me around. Even if I run away or cry, he chases me persistently, eventually even doing indecent things... An average guy with a beauty complex getting agitated by a good-looking guy in the title story, and other short-stories which hadn't been published till now, are collected in this anthology. Newly drawn pictures are also included.

3) The False Barber Manga
During breaks, the chemistry lab becomes a barber shop for students, run by Yuushi who is the son of a barber. Every morning, Tadachika visits the lab to get his hair done because it's so unruly. One morning Yuushi kisses him while clipping his hair, and soon the 100 yen fee is replaced by a kiss. Tadachika isn't so sure about this strange relationship of "friends, but something more"... but then he finds Yuushi's barber room closed and goes to find him.

4) Stupid and Beautiful
Harumi is a boy who "is stupid with a bad personality" and the only good thing about him is his strikingly gorgeous face. Ryouhei is his classmate - the top student who acts like a big brother to everyone - who helps Harumi with studies and notes. Harumi thanks him with a kiss which he offers as thanks to everyone, but maybe Harumi's reason for kissing Ryouhei is more than just thanks...

5-6) Cheap Soul, A Bright Future
Rumour has it that Satomi will give his ass to anyone who asks, so Yousuke asks. For 100 yen, Satomi goes with Yousuke and they sleep together... but it turns out the rumour isn't exactly true. Satomi was a virgin. But why did he accept so easily then? They continue to sleep with eachother, for 100 yen a round... where is their relationship going to end up?
And then, 10 years later....

7) Gokujou Dessert (Excellent Dessert)
Two boys in a class receive sweets from admirers very often.

The Early BL Beginnings of Ogawa Chise Sensei
Rating: 9.0 / 10.0
by Ahzinal

This collection is of her first worksí and they all share the flaw of just that. Donít focus too much on the stories and just enjoy the brilliant art and flow of Ogawa sensei.

The first couple were ok. Nothing was too annoying about the story and a little background to the semeís attraction to the insecure uke is provided in the extra in the sequel
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
(I frankly liked that because of the glimmering close up of the uke towards the end).

Now ĎThe False Barber Mangaí is my favorite of the collection and it makes me happy to know that this was her first BL and doujinshi. Itís very adorable and the art is so attractive. The story is well put together and the two friends are entertaining for side characters.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I like my ukes to want to have sex; bringing a condom with him for his seme. Silly goose, only giving him one condom.
Great start of her BL career.

I like to read about that kind of uke in the third story.

The 100 yen story is my second favorite of the bunch because it had such an interesting approach.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Also, I always enjoy it when we see that the couple still happily share their future together.

Finally, the oneshot about candies was sweet. I felt a little seme x seme potential so Iím imagining itís true in my mind.

This collection is a nice quick read so just go for it.

The 5t chapter is nice

I really liked the story about 100 yen. The story about long-term relationship with the secret adoration at first - really nice. And the aspect about uke being chep etc. - that makes sense in life as well. Even though the author made a miscalculation, this story alone get 10.
Other stories really have the spirit of amateur mangaka, but i like this author and her plots are still interesting - like stories about green love.
So on il all 9,5.

as a testament for ogawa sensei ability to spun words full of heat, that even without any explicit sex, im burning all over. theres nothing overtly sexual unlike other yaoi out there, however the hooded eyes full of passion, the curve of the boys' back, the long lithe limb entangling each other just speak 'sex' to me. her art and story telling is top notch.

Good enough for me

Considering that this volume consists of the very first BL works that Ogawa Chise-sensei published a while back, I would say that they are very promising as a start for a BL author. Sure she did mention that she had to redraw most of the panels later on, but that just goes to show that she has been improving a lot as an artist, while her stories were already good at the beginning, at least good enough for me. I like the characters enough to care for them, and even if these stories aren't really plot-driven I could still enjoy them to a large extent. Call me biased since I love the author so much, but objectively speaking you gotta admit this is a rather decent collection.

a lovely batch of stories for the sweet tooth

Usually what I like from a short story collection is that each story can hold itself up as a proper short. That means some sort of plot, interesting characters and a resolution for each. In an anthology you shouldn't expect deep development in story lines because there literally isn't enough time or space within the limits of the short story. For me, what makes a good short story is one that has the potential to be drawn out to something beautiful, with more plot development of course, which means the base has to have something there first. There needs to be that spark like when you hear a catchy song and it sticks in your head all day regardless of being good or bad. Whether it's because of the refreshing art style, the likeability of the characters or the simplicity of the romances, something just clicked for me with this manga. I read each story expecting to be disappointed at some point by a painfully obvious filler story, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I genuinely enjoyed each one I read. The trick is to not approach this manga expecting a meal to satisfy the empty stomach; like candy, the stories will dissolve on the tongue, leaving nothing but sweet traces. You'll be happy but craving something more substantial.

Some stories are quite good

1st story is rather bad...it's actually killed from the very beginning...I face-palmed most of the time... so won't rate it more than 3.
2nd story was quite good. Nicely developed and there are visible emotions. Giving 8.
3rd story: Good but no masterpiece. But still it would deserve at least 7.
4th story. Actually I think if it would be more developed ...like the background and so...it would be much better. But the way it is... I rate it 6,5.
Nice set but nothing too special...and poorly developed story..you feel like the story somewhere in the middle just skip forward. So 4,5.

ch 1-2: The story was average and I don't remember much of it. Rate: 6
"The False Barber" (ch3): The seme oozed with sex appeal and I also shared the feeling of the uke. The tension definitely was there. I enjoyed reading this so it's 8.5 for me.
"Stupid and Beautiful" (ch 4) : This kind of story from sensei that is not new but the grit is what makes this enjoyable to read tirelessly. Rate: 8
"Cheap Soul" & "A Bright Future" (ch 5-6): The story was okay. I wish the back story of their feelings came to be was explored more. Rate: 7
"Excellent Dessert..." (ch 7): Pretty short. Rate: 6
Overall I enjoyed most of the oneshots.

Some of the stories were good!

I disagree with the other reviewer who said that the stories were boring. True, the first story was probably nothing special, but there were a few other stories in this manga that were pretty good. I particularly enjoyed the one featuring the mature glasses guy and the dumb pretty boy. Of course, there's nothing groundbreaking or truly unique here, but it's certainly not so completely uninteresting that it's not worth reading.

Give this a go- you might enjoy some of the stories like I did.

Move on, not worth it.

Pretty boring. I was hoping for a true plain male (like the wonderful Kikoenai Koe), but it's just some shoujo prettiness still. They all look like the next popular idol in school, and the only reason why he's a got a plain face, is because he says so. It's like people in movies saying they're fat, when really they're not.

I can't even remember much about the story. Random guy chases plain faced guy because he's cute and tries to molest him whenever he can. The plot of any yaoi out there.

Only the first 2 chapters are scanslated.
And they're pretty...okay. Not the best from Ogawa Chise-sensei but I like it =)
Hope the remaining chapters get scanslated soon X3
