I used to drop Deadman Wonderland. I forgot the reason why, and didn't understand myself back then. This piece is enthralling.

The story gets interesting very early with obvious dark theme. At some points the story gets brighter, but you won't see that long; it will turn dark again after that for sure, except for one point in the story. Despite strange sudden changes of personalities, overall story is an uphill.

The is fast paced, sometimes a bit too fast for me. Flashbacks are wisely shown to keep readers attached even stickier. One thing that annoys me a bit is the 'sudden' twist with the real boss debut. Some periods of the story, especially the beautiful ending, are highly emotive. The length of the story is neither too long nor too short.

The plot is not that unpredictable; it's not like we cannot guess who that guy actually is and such. It still is, however, hard to guess about some important points. What I don't really like are the reasons of villains' wrongdoings. It's just, well, somewhat weak. You don't get a lot of explanation, but it gives that just at sufficient amount.

Some characters are so real; some are not, though all are intended to be. The fact doesn't bother me much anyway, because my mind puts all attention on the intriguing story.

The art suits the story so well. Kondou Kazama's art is full of darkness and extreme expression. The coloured pages are impressive.

To sum up, Deadman Wonderland is... surely breathtaking.

its so worth the read

its such a well planned and very detailed manga. at first i thought it was wishy washy, but then i reread it, taking into account each and every panel ever so carefully and the expressions of the characters and i was completely captivated by it. the only reason i thought it was wishy washy was because i read it like i read shoujo lol ie not ever frame is important but deadman is so detailed that /everything/ counts.

its an absolutely wonderful manga, i couldn't stress it anymore than that.
the characters are lovable no matter how twisted they are LOL and the art is beautiful
don't miss out, read it (properly not like how i did at first) and you'll love it.

the ending had me bawling my eyes out, so friggin sad. this manga would have been perfect if only it didn't go overly shounen with the nakama and saving everyone shtick, but as it is, i think it is great. there are no excessive chapters and it didn't go long winded and all over the place, the length is just right. most of the characters are a bit too simplistic and dang, loads of crazy blood-thirsty guys here and their 'rationalization' for killing is wonky, but all in all, they are just a vehicle for the story of these two young people so i can forgive it. this reminds me of mirai nikki, both are great shounen.

I really liked this manga, caught up with it in one go, although the anime was quite disappointing, I couldn't stand watching it after 2 episodes.
Regardless of that, this manga is not for the lighthearted, the action, suspense, gore, this manga has tons of it, but it's worth the read

the manga didn't impress me by its STYLE ( a style that can be seen in so many other series ) but I liked the anime a lot better! those who aren't impressed by the style of the manga should watch anime!
It's been a long time I've found an interesting anime like this.

All of the ones that say "boringggggg"
I mean, look at the dates! THEY'RE FROM A YEAR AGO! (ok, one from this year >:l)!!
C: The manga has SERIOUSLY picked up since then, and GAHH in the latest chapters, I was so surprised! This manga is amazing, and it has it's own unique plot line.
I am a girl, and I have this thing agaisnt shounen. I don't know why, but mostly, they involve stupid idiotic, insensitve yet attractive people as the leads. I don't like reading stuff like that.

BUT THIS, Ganta is amazing. His feelings are so realistic, and his personality's REAL. I always hated how shounen had such stupid main leads for no reason. Ganta may not be the brightest person, but atleast you understand why, because it's his nature to be a good guy (or so I think). AKA, I think he's so nice that he's a bit stupid. But not OVERLY STUPID.

I'm bad at explaining. XD
ANyway, I wanted to stay THIS and Ao no futsumashi are what dragged me into the Shounen realm, and I'm so glad they did!!!
I love this manga, and it's so unique and it keeps giving me new ideas, feelings, and excitment with each chapter I read.

It is a must read.

Have fun reading!!!~

*Great art
*great Plot
*Great Characters
*I've cried alot (REALLY TOUCHING)

NOW have fun reading ! xD

Also, the plot line is unpredictable. I was like
" OH PSH, that's gonna happen, and this is that person =.=!! BLEH"
but then I read on...

That experience keeps happening to me over and over again xD
And I'm so glad it does. I love it when I read something that is beyond my judgement! SO EXCITING )

- - - - - -

I now love Shounen. C:

From what I said above, it made it seem actionless.

biggrin It never slows down for a bit, so you're like "bleh...nothings happening"

But don't read if you don't like blood. o.o
Nah, even then, READ XD
I mean, seriously. It's not like it's COLORED or anything. O.O think of it as water .

...I'm not making my point.

IT"S TOUCHING (aka, it actually CONNECTS to you, not some plain manga csmile

So ya.

Read. c: (plus, watch anime after reading.) Anime's ruin manga experiences, >:c but are fine to watch after you've read it XD that's my belief, anyway.

I have to say, I am currently in love with this manga. It's my favorite shounen as of right now. Deadman Wonderland is an awesome manga! It has a great plot, set of characters, and the artwork is GORGEOUS! biggrin You can see all the details and effort put into each character, background, and scene (especially the fight scenes). This manga is definitely not for the faint of heart. The themes in the manga are very mature and cruel, having to do with the inhumane side of mankind. The way all the characters and Ganta are treated is absolutely terrible and hell probably can't emphasize the extreme cruelty. Also there is A LOT, I repeat, A LOT of blood and gore. If you aren't used to seeing this kind of stuff, I'd recommend you not read this unless you seriously think you can handle it. At first I was thinking this was going to be another extremely long, mainstream series but I was wrong and I'm glad I was. There is a perfect amount of time for character and plot development without the story dragging on and on. There are plot twists and many secrets that leave you wanting more. I've realized that this manga is actually really psychological, and I love that, so no wonder I've fallen so hard for this manga! Definitly read this if you want an unpredictable, psychological, not slow paced, action packed thriller! One of the best new mangas I think smile

Honestly, when I first saw this manga, I had doubts about how good it was. But after reading it, I came to love this manga. The beginning has a slow start, but after that it get very good. There's betrayal, lies, and enticing plot twists. I give this a solid 9.5/10
