Haine has been in love with Shizumasa Togu from the day she read the picture book he wrote as a child. She enrolls the Imperial Academy to be close to him and is accepted as a member of the student council. But with that, dark secrets start to reveal themselves! Why does "The Emperor" act differently? It almost caught my attention nicely. The plot seemed nice. But I couldn't help but feel like there was gaps and a disappointing ending. The girl was annoying too.. True form of "all over the place".
Artistry could have been better for he guys and main character.

starts off kinda interesting and sweet. Then the drama starts to kick in. Who is this top head guy in the school? The twin brother is brutal and he lives a double life. For the most part some things are obvious. They both have played a part in making her life better a little. And both love her. This is when things get annoying. They keep saying how naive she is in the story. Annoyingly so though. She is just straight stupid in her decisions up into the end when she marries one brother but still loves he other?! Wtf. The daddy issues were also solved a little too easily.. And what's up with the memory lose with the mom. Then she's a bad ass then she's a sweetheart. Seems more like split personality. Can't fully get down with a story were I find the main to be annoying.

This manga has an amazing art done by Tanemura Arina, and lots, lots, LOTS of potential, however it became your manga-next-door, filled with dead-end clichés. Anyhow, final chapters made me specially unnerved because I expected SO much from this. I read it almost 2 years ago, but whenever I come back to check on old mangas, this one makes me irritated the most. I wanted a closure which was never, ever going to happen, BUT it was a so-so story overall.

This is like one of my first mangas I've read. I loved it and even now! The 1st volume came out on my birthday and I was surprised. I love Arina tanemura's work. I hope she will sell more of her work

I absolutely love this manga! The art is really good and all the characters are interesting. It's the typical manga where the girl has to decide between one guy out of twins. It seems like she'd go for the one she first thought she loved, but after getting to know the "replacement", something changes. I only didn't like the character Ushio and how jealous she always was and how she made Haine choose her or else she'd disappear, this manga truly has lots of twists and turns that make you want to read more.
Also, it helps that the choices for Haine to like are good looking. I felt bad for Takanari when she stepped down from being Platinum to be with Ushio. I was like, "Why? Choose Takanari!" It drove me crazy, but she wanted her friend to know she was there for her so I guess it's alright.

I always love reading Arina Tanemura's series. Sure, they're a bit childish and really fantasy and sugar coated. But that's her style. Her shojo is innocent, sweet, and a well, kind of like a young girl's dreams (I'm using a stereotype, but hey, it's true for some girls and the image of girls) The art is beautiful, and really appealing to me, at least. And the story line is one of her best, honestly, liked this more than Full moon.

I have to agree about the start of this manga. If you were to go by just the beginning, you would probably drop it. Haine is loud, rash, and simply idiotic at times. Everything that I hate in a heroine. The art is a bit fussy at first also, but it's something that you get used to and over.
I do love the story line though. There is a bit of mystery there and you just want to find out what it is. You'll keep reading just to see if Haine gets better or if you continues to be the idiotic character that she started with...

The art is JUST OVER THE TOP it TOO EXAGGERATED I couldn't stand it and it really affected the manga I felt like it was a magical fairy tail which I hated I just want beautiful art but this just wasn't I never understood why people judged art and what exactly the were on about with art but now I understand this was just a let down :/

EDIT:yep after 4months I came back to this a yes, I read it the whole way through, cept this time I actually focused on the story more then the art and soon after I got ust to it.I really liked it, but towards the end it just became completely rushed and stupidly unrealistic,
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
. anyway I didn't mind that its just the fact that or happened so quickly and everything was all flowered and perfect....Nothing went wrong, and the female lead is totally screwed and her reaction to things that would shock and anger a normal human being did nothing for her, I got really angry, I mean for god sakes
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
: when the twins told her they were twins all she said was"oh" ..WTTF....WOULDN'T YOU HE LIKE"WTF you guys are totally screwd, how could you do this" ....

I recommend this if your ready to actually read this and forget about the art for the first few chapters, and also if your desperate for new mangas

From a critical standpoint, the most impressive thing about SDC is the art. As you can tell, the art is very, very extravagantly detailed. Perhaps even blindingly so. I respect Tanemura for being able to do all that on her deadline. Honestly, I do. Style is a preference but her foundational skills are better than most, even though I personally think she relies too much on screentones and sparkly flower which makes my eyes hurt sometimes. (I also noticed she’s not particularly good at different perspectives/anatomy – thus causing her characters to appear stiff.) Most of the art is impressive because of the level of detail and the “finished” look of it that a lot of other series fail to accomplish. The backgrounds are really amazing and detailed. So it’s 50/50 based on what impresses you. I would say I am impressed, even if the style is too shoujo to my eyes. On another note, it’s difficult to differentiate between characters because the only thing setting them apart is their hair. The parents look like they’re 15 as well, which was a little unsettling, but other than that, the art is impressive.

I usually attempt to steer clear of fairytales, clichés, and whiny heroines but I was curious since I had already finished Full Moon and didn’t know which way the mangaka was going to develop in terms of style. What I found out was: people like me can never take this story or these characters seriously. The plot is, sadly, borderline non-existent and the entire progression of events was rather obviously conceived as the author wrote, as opposed to being loosely planned out beforehand. There is way too much unnecessary drama at points that it became burdensome. The cast provided adequate humor and cute side stories, but the main characters and their story were not by any means more memorable than the next ones in line. Though Tanemura’s stories are longer than and not as simple as most shoujo stories, they and SDC come off as a little simple-minded.

A lot of people here expressed great dislike for Haine. I actually kind of liked her simplicity and her supposed “idiocy”. She has her extreme yankee moments and her calmer moments. She made me laugh a little and seemed good-natured with a lot of random quirks. (Though Tanemura’s heroines are nowhere close to what I’d consider a proper role model, the only one who ever rubbed me the wrong way was manga Mitsuki. She seemed a lot less bratty in the anime.) I guess the only thing I had an issue with was how weak Haine was around men. Why was it that when a guy tried to kiss her, she suddenly forgot her yankee moves? I do like her angst about her family life and how Tanemura tried to develop her and the two male leads deeper but it seems that a lot of it was not put to use properly.

SDC’s ending was worse than the beginning and middle, but since I wasn’t too emotionally invested in the characters, I just kinda raised my brow and congratulated myself for getting this far. But I can completely understand why it would leave most readers capitally pissed off. I think that was the reason Tanemura wrote an epilogue to fix the problem, though the mere fact that it happened was pretty faceplam-worthy. But despite all these flaws and being totally outside my normal comfort zone with manga, I enjoyed reading it, in a lighthearted way. This seemed like a fantasy to me because the real world does not remotely resemble the world inside this story, so maybe that’s why I didn’t mind it seeming so far-fetched. I would recommend this story to people who are comfortable in shoujo, and don’t mind sugary stories, but if you only read a little shoujo, this may be difficult to sit through.

Arina Tanemura's best in my opinion, one of my favorite manga series. I'm a boy, and most of her work is too fluffy/girlie for me to handle. (I can only take so much girlie.) BUT this series is girlie but has a nice serious edge to it. I guess the slight mix in of sensual in her fluffy romance gave it more of a mature feeling. Her heroine was innocent but she could kick some @$$ which made her awesome. (I love a girl who can kick some @$$) It kept me interested and reading.

It was a really good series. I highly recommend it!
