Flowers! Puuuurrrty!
Rating: 8.5 / 10.0

Flowers! Puuuuurty!

Tres hot! Beautiful, sparkly men! If you like Yuzuha Ougi's style of art and story, you'll like Norikazu Akira! This mangaka delivers beautiful, muscular, confident semes and sweet, innocent and angsty bishounen ukes. Copious flowers and glittery spots included! (And none of those ridiculous circles or 'x's' covering manly parts. *rolls eyes*) She makes eye wear uber-sexy, btw!

It's like pure candy floss when a reader needs a break from dark, ominous, tragic and foreboding stories (like the kind I usually adore!)

But it takes more than such aesthetically pleasing prettiness to keep me reading. Her plots - although simple - have enough tension and pacing to keep me flipping the pages, even going back and rereading scenes. Her art has enough trauma and depth in the characters faces and body positions to keep me addicted.

She hasn't created anything deeply touching, poignantly moving or challenging me to explore the depths of humanity. What she has created is chocolate that melts in my mouth and leaves no icky after taste or guilty conscience.

Hey, one can't have their hands covered in blood, their minds in turmoil and eat red meat ferociously ALL the time.
