Trapped in an ancient battle between a wicked Death God and the Seven Ghosts and guided by three mysterious priests, Teito discovers a power that could save the world... and shed light on his own mysterious past.

@kevintheman if you took your sweet time to read on you'd have found out that the military let Taito go on purpose. Later on it gets revealed why.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
They think the only way to awaken Taito's sealed memories is herding him, torturing him mentally, hunting him whereever he goes. Later on they retrieve him again.

And I have to agree about the annoying flashbacks, they get randomly thrown in sometimes and at cliff hanger situations too x.x
Furthermore I disliked the Raphael-Mikael thing that's going on, torturing their own country's children...q.q

I’ve trouble thinking this is readable.

Hello? You have the brightest , fastest and smartest student hanging around and you’re smart enough to pull off a conspiracy but you don’t have the brains to implement enough security, to stop him from escaping? Your so-called training center is located near a city or another country and it’s supposed to be top secret and unimpetrenable and isolated. Riggghhttt.

If anyone used logic, the most suspicious people are also those who’re high up in authority. Anyone experienced in military, warfare and politics would be accustomed to such betrayal but noooo, nobody knows.

The characters jump into scene after scene where they always meet up with people that somehow possess the “thingamagic” to unlock the next stage of the plot. The characters are smart to do all sorts of things but they’re also dumb enough to fall into traps all the time. No, make it “dumb enough to get killed even if the readers already know they’re going to die”.

If that wasn’t bad enough, the scenes jump around all the time. The type of conspiracy is just like Naruto, Black Cat, Bleach, etc. but done more crappily, though this time it’s supernatural conspiracy.

I completely regretted wasting my time on this pile of garbage. Shouldn’t have listened to my friend, now he owes me lunch.

An incredible manga/anime series! The story is interesting and there are plenty of bishie guys! I would seriously recommend this, I love the art and animation, Frau and Hyuuga are hilarious characters and Tieto and Mikage are so sweet! My favourite manga/anime so far.

Having watched the Anime first, I then read the Manga which is of course, much more amazing (though I loved the Anime too.)

I registered especially to write this. Honestly, it is not 'shoujo' like the other 'shoujo'. I would classify it as Shounen. Especially after reading the manga, it is most definitely shounen for me. If like me, you love FMA or Pandora hearts then I would definitely recommend this.

I love the contrast of the Church and Military, and the characters are all mind blowing.

I've been following this series for quite a few years now and I can honestly say that it is one of my all time favorite series, fo' sho'.

I just love the characters, the way they interact, and how close their relationships to one another become. More so since at the beginning Teito really isn't the most sociable person, but later you realize that the relationships within this series are kind of a big deal, especially Frau and Teito's (but that may just be because I'm biased). It's also nice to see how well the characters develop throughout the series and seeing how much Teito, and the people he affects, grow.

The story also develops and unfolds rather nicely, there are some slow points every once in a while, but it's all important to the storyline more or less, so don't jump the gun and drop the series just because of something so trivial.

Lastly, the art is just beautiful is does justice to the story. It may seem "girly", as most of my male friends have called it, but they all enjoyed it once they read it. So don't let it scare you! And I also will point out that it's not a Shounen-ai series, though I will be more than happy if it became that way (I can sense that sort of connection happening with Frau and Teito at any moment now).

Set in a Gothic fantasy world, this is the story of Teito Klein, an orphaned slave who becomes top military academy student. However, an unexpected turn of events left him pursued by the forces of the Barsburg Empire, because of his exceptional ability to use a form of magic called Zaiphon. Now an escaping convict, Teito's sheltered by the church in District 7.Because of the 7th District's law of sanctuary, as long as Teito stays in the church, the army cannot arrest him. Here, he discovered many mysteries surrounding himself, the church, and the Empire itself. The fact that he might be connected to a dethroned king and the mystical stone of god, 'The Eye of Mikhael' made him the target of the empire more than ever.

Teito’s discovery of his true nature and his subsequent quest for revenge involve him in the affairs of the Gods themselves, as he finds himself at the center of the conflict between Verloren, the God of Death, and the mysterious “beings of light” sent by Heaven to oppose him: the Seven Ghosts. After completing a test, Teito finds himself the assistant to the Bishop Frau and that the rest of the Empire is after him. Now, he is on the run...

Only wanting to leave a comment about this manga is why I registered here XD 07-GHOST is such an AMAZING manga (and anime as well) that I had to write about this!!

For me, to like a manga this much is impossible. Almost all not yaoi manga (I ONLY read yaoi manga), to me, are horrible and doesn’t have quality at all… But 07-GHOST has quality, and such and incredible quality and it’s not yaoi!

Doesn’t matter where you look, the handsome characters, the story, the drama moments that make you cry, doesn’t matter, EVERYTHING IS JUST PERFECT! I must admit that I saw this for the first time because I thought this was a shounen-ai manga, later I discovered that it is not but even with that I LOVE IT WITH ALL MY SAIYAJIN SOUL! The story is so gorgeous, every character is so real that is impossible not to love it!

Really, really, incredible well done stories like 07-GHOST doesn’t exist anymore!!. 07-GHOST is a master piece, from the beginning up to now!!!

Oh! And Frau is just too lovely XDDD

I love this manga, I like the story, the art, the characters, even though it does get confusing sometimes as to what is happening... But I'm curious as to what the anime is like, I don't normally like anime but if its the same quality as the manga I'll be happy! EDIT: The anime is alright better than most.
But I recommend reading it!

07-Ghost was the first manga to touch my heart so deeply. At the time I read it, I thought that Naruto was the only series to put friendship over everything, but 07-Ghost does it in a way that will somehow always bring tears to your eyes. I recommend 07-Ghost for the depth in emotions and to those fujioshi fans who like bishounen, because in the end, 07-Ghost touches your heart, if not a lot, but a little^__^

I started looking up this series after reading all the positive reviews down here. As many recommended I jumped to the anime and I have to say: READ THE MANGA!
One of the earlier reviewers said that the anime follows the storyline of the manga chapter by chapter ---> False!!! The episodes I have watched are plain fillers.
Sure I understand that the battles are a lot clearer in the anime (which in itself is not bad) but story-wise the two cannot even be compared. To elaborate, I find that the anime stretches the story to such an extent that it almost becomes ridiculous:

Spoiler (highlight to view)
For example, at the beginning, in both the anime and the manga, Mikage comes to find Teito in the church where he is being sheltered; it looks too easy but in the manga, we soon come to understand "what" he really is and why he is talking as if he will soon disappear. Soon means soon in the manga whereas the anime pushes things away for so many episodes.

The complexity of the story is a lot more salient in the manga so I really recommend it to anyone with an interest in the series, who prefers more challenging entertainment.

Having said that, I have just recently started reading it but I can say that so far the storyline is complex enough to hold the interest, the characters are all cool, very likeable (I even like the bad guy's crew), and the art is very nice
