Great series, not Greatest though

Being mostly a 4-Koma style series (there are parts where it follows a more traditional layout) it is a nice little something to read a strip or two each day. Anyone that enjoys this series should obviously consider reading Yotsubato! as well ,which is the Greatest series ever.

This gets a 10 for being the only manga to consistantly make me laugh or scream cute on every page.

My first foray into slice of life

And I consider myself lucky it was this and not another series. The characters are well presented, the pacing is good, and the art is unique; Kiyohiko Azuma avoids falling into most of the things that have come to be associated with manga/anime in general.

Unfortunately, it's not going to be universally accepted as such, as the humor isn't going to make an impact on everyone(who cares, we're all just a bunch of geeks) and it lacks any semblance of a plot(does life have a plot? WTF do you need a plot for?). Those people suck.

A 10. Definitely. To be honest, what else can you give it other than a 9 or higher? It's funny, it's cute, it's loads of fun, it's great. I love this manga. I love the anime too. Just one thing though. In the beginning chapters of volume one, Chiyo looks somewhat different and in the entire volume one, Osaka looks waaaay different. Chiyo was fine, but Osaka looked really, really odd.

Kiyohiko Azuma is a genius when it comes to comedy manga. Despite the fact that I haven't read Yotsuba&!, I know it will definitely be funny because Azumanga Daioh is definitely one of the funniest and most enjoyable manga I've read, although not the best if your talking seriously.

The characters are very unique. I mean Chiyo is so darn cute. Osaka is so weird. Tomo is so wild and energetic. Kagura is athletic but stupid. I love Yomi's pranks and punches (used against Tomo). Sakaki's luck with cats is also quite hilarious. Yukari's selfishness and horrible driving skills are great. Nyamo is the nice teacher. Kaorin and Kimura-sensei...I don't see how Kaorin can ever be successful with her current goal and it's creepy that Kimura has a wife and daughter.

Also the plot is very basic. Actually, there is no plot. Yes, there is no plot. Just everyday school life. Anyway, it's nice to see that there's actually a mangaka who draws manga with a simple and basic attitude to them. Nothing special. No romance (very surprising since this is about high school girls), EXTREMELY big breasts, gore and violence, sexual content, etc. Just a manga that doesn't require much thinking to get. Basically, if I were a user and made a review, everything would get a 5/5.

Great series with a original sense of humor, ignore the guy at the bottom he has no taste and probably only thinks something like slapstick is funny. Ask around, this series has many fans, and I asure you the majority of them aren't DBZ/yugioh fans.
