love or hate

You either love this manga or you don't.

I will answer this comments about sex...well this IS about teens people! I know not all teens are like that, but this manga was not just about sex. There was lots of drama here and I cried. If you don't like it then don't read it, but don't take the enjoyment for those of us who like it.

Thank you Mayu for writing and drawing this work!

I have to agree at the comment below. This manga is all about sex. Suprisingly this manga was popular with the young girls which is allarming. IMO I think this manga is created to fulfill girl's sexual fantasies or perversion. Anyway the plot is cliche and repetitive; girl gets bullied guy rescue girl, girl was hurt guy avenge girl. There is no progress with the character and as the story continues
it gets worst.

I recommend this manga to all shinjo mayu fan's who love weak female who gets rape by her partner and some villains.

All I can say to the next readers ; read this manga at your own risk.

Ew. gross. disgusting. horrible. immature. unrealistic.
after reading this, i feel like giving it a 10. on the other (and sadly nonexistent) end of the chart.
You can't hate on me for saying this if you're a Shinjo-addict, because i've read most of her works, and more besides. I know my smut.
You know how there's music you feel like you have to dance to? i found manga i feel i have to puke to. both this one and haou airen, which is another
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
piece of crap i can't stand. who honestly reads raperaperaperaperape and likes it? answer, sickos and phycopaths, that's who.

beyond that, i'm a feminist. screw males. who do you think let you live? who's smart enough to live longer in the first place? SM's girls are wimpy, fake, and rediculous. oh, speaking of SM, her female characters are almost always the perfect fit for the m in sm.
i think shinjo mayu is bad for my heart (and my stomach). a 1 from me.

Okay, so...I've just started to read this and I'm not sure what I should say. Maybe my opinion my change if I get to the end or something. The only character that I'm not satisified, right from the start, is Aine. I know all girls are weak and so on but that's not necessarily true either. At first, I thought that I can accept the fact that she's weak and not strong minded. But as I get into the middle of the story, I just realized that she's just running around in circles. She never change, even from the start. She's still having that "I must be a burden, so I need to give up!" and starts to run away. Although I think she braves up a little with the Ayako case. (I really feel like slapping Ayako, really!)

I hope she'll grow stronger, instead of just counting on Sakuya for protection or giving up Sakuya for the sake of protecting him in her own way or something. I mean, Sakuya will be hurt too!
Instead, I hope to see that she'll protect their love and not giving up!! *sighs* I better continue reading it. tsk tsk.

sure aine is a little weak however it seems that every single person wants a super strong woman. not every woman is strong even in real life.... especially in real life. and there are parts were aine despite being a weak lead actually shows her strength
sakuya is a typical hot possessive main.

its a little cliche but it is a great overall. i love it and have reread it a couple times.

the best part of the series is how much sakuya and aine love eachother.

its a wonderful series dont let these other reviews stop you from reading

Here we go~!!
I comment on mangas like these, because they are near and dear to my heart. And if you ever read this, I beg of you, read the whole thing! It is not a spoiler, but in my own opinion I shed some light on two viewpoints good and bad.
If you are a female, there is no resisting it! Unless you are of another orientation, Sakuya’s captivating power-playing, his absolute way with words, and last but not least, his practical sensibility shines through in this witty tale of an unrealistic chance of fair meeting and the string tugging continuing of it all. When I read this, sometime ago, and trust me I’ve re-read it, I couldn’t stop. It was just so alluring to me. Not the love or the band, but that man!! And not in an infatuated sort of way… It is probably because he kept me guessing; I didn’t know if he was going to bash in somebody’s skull, verbally humiliate them, be a brat about it and use influence to crush them… I had no idea, but what I DID know was that he would take care of them. Just like Steven Segal, the bad guy was going to go down!

Now, you crazy kids keep ragging on Aine, but I have some much earned respect for her. For once in my reading, I found a heroine, in love, that wasn’t always second guessing herself!! Jeez! Because if you love them and you trust them, why are you over here bugging out about how you don’t know how faithful they are! Now, I was filled with excitement when I saw that this dynamic duo wouldn’t have that petty problem…. It pisses me OFF when I see it… I personally don’t like Aine…. That bug eyed little creep… But it gave me relief that she had SOME good attribute. Other than her hokey pokey lyrics a five year old who knew about sex could write.

The only thing I dislike about this book in general is something that all artist go through over time. We see Mayu Shinjou’s work evolve into a more modern concise style of drawing much different than that of her old style. It has a precedent, yet light, sort of feeling on the paper. That is why I deeply admire her drawing style. And it is just because of the fan service… The bug eyed little creep can go to the bad place for all I care. But I always take into consideration that in many ways Sakuya is more of the main character… In the anime he sure was… Even when it came to Aine’s world, the bands world, EVERYTHING revolved around him. Which I thought was wonderful!!

Mayu’s work is not for the female sexist, nor female activist out there… To put it simply, it’ll; just pis you off… But it’s a cute quirky love story that makes you think. Because even though it is very, very unrealistic… There are some key elements that are quite real in regards to this day and age.

Relatively modern and long lasting, a repetitive manga that has turns and twist like you could believe, it is on my favorite list and is also on my hearts love list. I’ll never forget its title.
Sensual Phrase is a must read for flighty girls in, or curious about love.

I really like this manga and all Mayu Shinjo's work is awesome! biggrin But what I don't really like is that the girl is SO god damn weak! She can never stand up for herself, and sure I like that her boyfriend protects her. But still, in almost every situation, he must defend her. It's a little annoying.

I like this manga and it's ok for me... No too good not too bad... I like mayu-sensei's works and i like this the most... But i must say all her work focus about band and 'trying to separate' themes and it takes my attetion in a way. I havent read the whole manga YET but i would reccomend this for those readers who like to see more of a manly guy who always protect the female heroine... To make it simple , the story always revolves around the damsel in distress..(^_^) but i might edit this comment after reading the whole thing..(^_^)

This manga has a really big problem--the plot is basically the same for most of the series. I can sum it up like so: People are constantly throwing themselves at Sakuya/Aine and trying to break them up/take them for themselves. *insert sex scene every so often*

I only made it to volume 15. I couldn't take it anymore and just said screw it.
